Space Marine 2 Gets Big Update & Year of Support as Title Breaks 4.5 Million Players

Saber Interactive’s latest title, Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, has surpassed 4.5 million players, and the developers have revealed they have much more in store, including today’s update.

Saber Interactive revealed Thursday in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that their latest title, Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, has surpassed 4.5 million players. Additionally, they have launched a trailer revealing the first of many updates to the battlefield, aimed at keeping things interesting for the Astartes fighting the Tyranid menace. The post-launch overview trailer, showing what’s now available in Space Marine 2 starting today, can be seen below.

This update in the post-launch overview allows fans to embrace their inner Dark Angel with a new armour set for customization, resembling the proud fan-favourite Dark Angel chapter, known for its tarnished history with the Emperor of Mankind during the Horus Heresy. A new, harder difficulty called “Lethality” has also been unleashed for Space Marine 2 players seeking further challenges beyond the base game. Additionally, fans can now confront the Tyranid swarm’s largest threat—the Hierophant Bio-Titan—in a new 3-player operation, available today on the new Lethality difficulty.

While today brought players the new operation against the Bio-Titan and the Lethality difficulty to Operations, the released trailer reveals that much more is to come. Saber Interactive Chief Creative Officer Tim Willits told IGN last month, “Our game director Dmitry Grigorenko, he has proposed some story ideas that could either be DLC or a sequel,” so a sequel hasn’t been ruled out for players hoping Space Marine 2 continues beyond the free update calendar.
