This week, the publisher of Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, Focus Entertainment, published a roadmap detailing the title’s future after fans field complaints.
Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 launched as a success for Focus Entertainment, with fans and critics alike praising the title for its faithful representation of the universe. CGMagazine’s review of Space Marine 2 calls it “a bloody good time and a must-play for Warhammer 40K fans or third-person shooting games in general.” Saber Interactive also boasted the latest Warhammer 40K title has surpassed 5 million players back in October 2024, along with a video showcasing the upcoming year in Warhammer 40K. Today, Focus Entertainment has revealed yet another road map for the third-person shooter amid fan complaints regarding lack of content.

Fans have taken to Reddit months after Space Marine‘s launch to voice concerns about how much content is in the game. In a thread, fans have detailed their frustration with the title, particularly about the length of the main campaign. User GunMuratIlban responds to the question of whether the game lived up to expectations with a “personally, no.” The user continued by calling Space Marine 2 “A very shallow experience that doesn’t excel at anything other than offering a very short burst of fun for a couple of hours. Until you realize there’s nothing more to this game.”

Focus Entertainment’s new blog post published this week outlines the title’s future and seeks to alleviate fan concerns about the lack of content. The post starts with a resounding ‘we hear you’ from the publisher, along with the statement, “Space Marine 2 has been out for four months, and your continued enthusiasm means the world to us,” thanking fans for the prolonged support. Focus published a new roadmap outlining SM2‘s 2025, bringing new tyranids to do battle against and new Space Marine chapter inclusions (with the Salamanders and Raven Guard). Further in, new PvP maps will be distributed, starting with Tomb, a claustrophobic close-quarters map that promotes violence.
While fans may still be skeptical about the new roadmap, Focus Entertainment promises even more content will follow after 2025 plans. Focus says, “We’re not done with it! You can expect updates every two months” for the title’s future.
