A new response on social media has broken the silence on the long-awaited Update 1.7 launch for Stardew Valley, and the creator promises it’s coming “very soon.”
Stardew Valley continues to consistently release updates that expand the title in new and exciting ways, but since the Nintendo Direct showcase that announced a Nintendo Switch 2 version (set to release Fall 2025), and Fall having less than a week left, the team has been quiet until today. The often outspoken creator of Stardew Valley, Eric Barone, has taken to social media (particularly X) today to apologize for the lack of updates, while instilling a promise that something will be announced soon. Underneath his original August 30 post that “update 1.7 is happening,” Barone responded to fans, and the thread can be seen below.
To the question “Any update on the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition perchance?” Super looking forward to its release,” Barone apologized for the radio silence and offered a glimpse into what will be included in the update. Barone said, “There will be some more character/social stuff it’s also traditional to add a new farm type. Lots more but I don’t want to reveal much yet,” in a follow-up response.

As of his post, it has been a full year since update 1.6 was released onto the Valley (which added a Meadowlands farm and chicken coop). So while the creator teases that a new farm is coming, he doesn’t go into further specifics aside from the vaguities outlined in his X replies. Former updates (like 1.6) have had a direct effect on the Stardew Valley playerbase, so fans are definitely invested. According to Steam Charts, the Valley saw a 155% increase in its playerbase in March 2024, the same month update 1.6 was launched on just PC.
Fans have also responded with a resounding ‘it’s okay.’ One fan wrote “take as long as you guys need to” in a direct response to Barone’s post. While it’s still unclear when exactly update 1.7 will land, fans can rest assured it’s coming “very soon.”
