As the tech world continues to be battered by RAM shortages, Valve has confirmed that all Steam Deck models are currently sold out due to the issue.
As the squeeze on RAM continues, Valve has just posted a statement on its Steam Deck marketplace page confirming that all versions of the Steam Deck are out of stock, with the manufacturer citing ongoing memory shortages as the main reason. Consumers have been battered by exorbitant RAM pricing lately, and it appears Valve can’t outrun the shortage either, as the company outlined issues with memory shortages in a lengthy blog post earlier this month.

A statement from the blog post reads, “We planned on being able to share specific pricing and launch dates by now [on the Steam Machine]. But the memory and storage shortages you’ve likely heard about across the industry have rapidly increased since then. The limited availability and growing prices of these critical components mean we must revisit our exact shipping schedule and pricing (especially around Steam Machine and Steam Frame).” While that blog post was designed to warn consumers that the Steam Machine could be delayed further, today Valve announced the shortage has already claimed a victim: all Steam Deck models.

While the 256GB LCD version of the Steam Deck has since been discontinued, the other two offerings, the 512GB OLED and the 1TB OLED, are out of stock with a notice at the bottom of the page. The notice reads “Steam Deck OLED may be out-of-stock intermittently in some regions due to memory and storage shortages. Steam Deck LCD 256GB is no longer in production, and once sold out, will no longer be available.” So while Valve has confirmed the handheld PC gaming device is out of stock because of memory shortages, there’s no light at the end of the tunnel for when the device will be restocked.
Before the Steam Deck sold out completely, Valve confirmed that the price of its new products would be impacted by the ongoing shortages. Currently, there is no release date for the new suite of Valve products led by the Steam Machine, but CGMagazine will keep readers updated when there is.
