On Friday, a new trailer for the upcoming spin-off Suits: LA has dropped, and fans won’t have to wait much longer for the premiere.
NBCUniversal launched the latest trailer for the highly-anticipated spin-off, Suits: LA, and the trailer gives fans a first look at lead actor Stephen Amell donning the blazer-and-tie as on-screen character Ted Black. Ted Black is a former federal prosecutor from New York, who moved to LA to reinvent himself and represent powerful clientele of the West Coast as the self-proclaimed “best attorney in the country”. The latest trailer can be seen below.
It has been over five years since the original NBC legal drama, Suits officially ran its series finale and NBC has revived the series with a new cast and location. Previously it has been reported that fan-favourite original cast member (and series lead) Harvey Specter (played by Gabriel Macht) will return on a limited basis considering the proximity of Los Angeles and the series’ original ending location, Seattle. NBC has since confirmed Suits: LA and the original series will be set in the same universe.
The premise of the new show sees the universe jump forward six years after the ending of the original series, and sees Ted Black heading a firm in crisis. The official description of the new trailer says “in order to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career.” The show will see Ted engage with other characters in mind games, testing their loyalties to Ted and each other while personal and professional boundaries blur. The description finishes with “All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel that led Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved.”
The series’ original creator, Aaron Korsh serves as writer and executive producer alongside David Bartis and Dog Liman. The star-studded cast is lead by Stephen Amell as attorney Ted Black, other cast members include Josh McDermitt, Lex Scott Davis, Troy Winbush, Victoria Justice and the aforementioned Gabriel Macht reprising his role as Harvey Spencer.
Suits: LA premieres on February 23 on NBC.
