Summer Game Fest 2024 Debuts Archetypes in JRPG Metaphor 1

New details on introducing archetypes in Metaphor: ReFantazio were presented today at Summer Game Fest 2024.

At Summer Game Fest 2024, the designers behind the Persona game Atlus Metaphor: ReFantazio presented new details. They highlighted the new Archetypes within the game. This will change the dynamics than what players of the Persona games have seen before. Different yet similar to something we have seen in Persona 5. The designers also debuted a trailer to describe these Archetypes.

Metaphor: ReFantazio is set in a unique fantasy world where your protagonist will journey alongside his fairy companion, Gallica, to lift the curse from the kingdom’s lost prince. Here, you control your destiny, face your fears and awaken magical Archetype powers. By awakening to an Archetype, you will unlock the power to channel and combine the abilities of unique job classes. Strengthen your bonds and build your party to take down powerful foes and discover the kingdom’s true nature.

It is sort of Final Fantasy-adjacent as well in many iterations where the battle system combines turn based and real-time action, grant strategy and exhilaration at every turn. Party customization through “Archetypes” provides freedom to personalize your adventure. The Archetypes are essential to completing various quests and ensuring everyone lives to tell the tale.

This is such an exciting fact that Atlus is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year as well. Metaphor: ReFantazio is coming to on Xbox Series X|S, Windows, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and Steam on October 11, 2024. Pre-orders are available now!
