Summer Game Fest & Ubisoft Forward Showcase Dates Announced

Summer video game event announcements have kicked off, with official dates for Summer Game Fest and Ubisoft Forward showcases announced so far.

SGF will be live broadcast from the YouTube Theatre in Hollywood Park through various platforms such as Twitch, YouTube, Steam and even Twitter(X). The presentation goes live on June 7 at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET / 9 pm GMT. You can attend the event live in person, with tickets going on sale via Ticketmaster on May 7, 2024.

The SGF showcase will be followed by another live stream, Day of the Devs: SGF Edition. Xbox Studios’ first-party game developer, Double Fine and publisher, iam8bit, present this show, which usually focuses on indie games. After this event, an invite-only media and influencer event called SGF Play Days will run from June 8 to June 10, also hosted by iam8bit.

Ubisoft Forward will be on June 10, 2024, in Los Angeles, California, on the same week as SGF and on the same day as SGF Play Days. Last year, Ubisoft Forward was a day after the Play Days event, meaning their live presentation could be held at the same time this year. As for what to expect from this showcase, Ubisoft has yet to share any more details, but we can assume just like last year’s showcase that there will be updates on current and upcoming games such as the next mainline Assassin’s Creed game, Assassin’s Creed: Codename Red.

This is the second year in a row that Ubisoft is hosting its showcase event during the same week of Summer Games Fest. SGF is set to kick off with a live event on June 7, 2024, with several of the biggest game publishers, as confirmed by its host and industry veteran, Geoff Keighley, in March 2024.

In the previous year, many other game publishers, alongside Ubisoft, hosted their own showcase events during the same week of SGF, such as Microsoft, Square Enix, and Capcom. We can expect more announcements from other game publishers in the coming months about when their summer showcases will start.

SGF started in May 2020 and has hosted itself as the premier summer games industry event yearly, gradually replacing the former biggest event of summer, E3. E3 was confirmed last December by The Entertainment Software Association to be officially cancelled due to varying circumstances. During last year’s SGF, updates on games such as Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Alan Wake 2, and Baldur’s Gate 3 were announced, along with new game reveals, including the recently released Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.

In this year’s SGF, we can expect to see some big announcements and reveals, as previous years have indicated. For more information on SGF, feel free to follow their Twitter here.
