At the Combo Breaker 2026 event, the fighting stopped to allow for new reveals, and Tekken 8 showed that the next member of their roster is Yujiro Hanma from Baki. On the other hand, Tekken creator Katsuhiro Harada has finally come face-to-face with Waffle House after departing the franchise.
While EVO is undoubtedly the king of fighting game tournaments (which may be subject to debate following their most recent RTS announcement), Combo Breaker can be considered another worthy stage for fighting game combatants to test their mettle against one another. At this year’s Combo Breaker 2026, new roster-related reveals for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, and 2XKO were announced, but Tekken 8 tore the house down by announcing their next suite of characters landing on the roster in Season 3.
Kunimitsu, Bob, and Roger Jr. were announced as mainline returning characters, but the final announcement brings “The Strongest Being On Earth” to the King of the Iron Fist Tournament. Fans can watch below as Yujiro Hanma from Baki is introduced into Tekken 8.
Portrayed as the main antagonist of the widely touted anime series Baki, Yujiro Hanma is a comically overpowered and overbearing martial artist who subjects his opponents to complete dominance. The main character in Baki is Yujiro’s son (the titular character), and the overbearing power dynamic between the two fits the ugly familial spats of Tekken 8 without effort. Hilariously, Yujiro can flex his back muscles with finesse, showing what appears to be a demon’s face popping out of his muscles, allowing this new familial patriarch to fit in with the demons of the Mishima family.

Unfortunately, while Tekken 8 showed a montage of anime/manga clips of Hanma in action, it stopped shy of showing actual gameplay. Yujiro Hanma is scheduled to land in the King of the Iron Fist Tournament sometime in 2027, near the end of Season 3. In other news, former Tekken lead, Katsuhiro Harada, has finally confronted a Waffle House. He posted a photo inside one of the eateries on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, and it can be seen below.
Harada has infamously questioned why fans lobbied for a Waffle House stage (specifically at 3:00 A.M.), back in 2024, after fans had swarmed his mentions with the notion that the stage “needs to” be made. One fan replied with “This is where we Americans hold our version of The King of The Iron Fist Tournament.” Another fan simply stated, “Waffle House is a PVP-enabled restaurant.” This campaign was set in the middle of an outbreak of videos landing online of adults brawling inside Waffle House locations.
Harada posted today, “I have finally made it to WAFFLE HOUSE” with photos and a claim that he was able to buy a menu for $5. Although Harada no longer produces for Tekken 8, he did post about Waffle House for his fans. It’s worth mentioning that Harada has also mentioned 3 a.m., and he’s seen wearing a shirt from his new VSStudioSNK studio. It’s possible Waffle House might be a new stage in Harada’s next title, but it’s far too early to tell. Today, fans can just enjoy this full-circle moment.
