On Thursday, Digital Eclipse, in partnership with The Tetris Company, announced Tetris Forever, a collection of titles celebrating the iconic game’s 40th anniversary.
The newest entry in the long-running Tetris series is a collection that showcases its storied 40-year history in celebration of the series’ legendary milestone. In partnership with The Tetris Company, Digital Eclipse has released a new trailer revealing what fans can expect from Tetris Forever this year, which can be viewed below.
The Tetris 40th anniversary will also be celebrated at Lucca Comics & Games, with the game’s creator and co-founder of The Tetris Company, Alexey L. Pajitnov, participating in the 2024 celebration. Lucca Comics & Games takes place from October 30 to November 4, and fans attending will have the opportunity to celebrate 40 years of Tetris history with one of the co-creators in attendance.
Key Features of Tetris Forever
- Digital Eclipse has prepared an authentic recreation of the first-ever version of Tetris, which co-creator Alexey Pajitnov created on a Soviet “Electronika 60” computer system.
- Explore a virtual museum in Tetris Forever, with archival materials, including video featurettes, photos, original ads, and playable games similar to the Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration, restored in high-definition and presented chronologically.
- Embracing history further, the Forever collection has over 90 minutes of documentary featurettes produced by Area 5 set to explore the true story of Tetris in its purest form.
- Tetris Time Warp, an all-new Tetris variant by Digital Eclipse, will be included in the celebration title and will have up to four players warping between different eras of Tetris in real time to experience a variety of memorable graphic styles and play mechanics.
Tetris Forever is set to launch on PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S at a to-be-determined date in 2024.
