With only a month until the big show, the Game Awards 2024 nominations have been unveiled, setting the stage for an exciting celebration of the gaming industry’s top achievements.

Hosted by Geoff Keighley, this year’s event marks the 10th anniversary of the prestigious awards show, which will take place on December 12, 2024. Every year, members of the video game industry and fans gather at the Peacock Theater (previously known as the Microsoft Theater) in Los Angeles to celebrate the best and brightest from the past year in video games. Among the nominees for Game of the Year are some of the year’s most critically acclaimed titles, including Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Metaphor ReFantazio, and Astro Bot, each vying for top honours in multiple categories.

Canadian talent is also in the spotlight for the 2024 Game Awards, with Humberly González earning a nomination for best performance as Kay Vess in Star Wars Outlaws. The diversity of genres and platforms represented in this year’s nominations highlights the evolving landscape of gaming, with categories ranging from best VR/AR game to best mobile game.

The Game Awards 2024 will be streamed across over 30 digital platforms, including Twitch, YouTube, Steam, X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and TikTok Live. The awards showcase a diverse array of games from numerous publishers, with Sony Interactive Entertainment leading the charge as The Game Awards’ most nominated publisher in 2024, boasting an impressive 16 nominations across its portfolio. Close behind are Square Enix and Xbox, each with 12 nominations, followed by Sega with 11.

Voting is now open to the public, and fans can cast their ballots across various platforms until shortly before the live event. With a decade of celebrating excellence behind it, The Game Awards 2024 promises to be a landmark occasion, recognizing both established franchises and innovative newcomers alike.
