A new space opera title in the same vein as Mass Effect, EXODUS, has had its latest trailer reveal at The Game Awards 2025 by Wizards of the Coast and Archetype Entertainment.
One of the more welcome surprises shown at The Game Awards 2025 is the joint announcement from Wizards of the Coast (yes, the makers of Magic: The Gathering) and Archetype Entertainment that EXODUS is coming in 2027 with a new trailer.
EXODUS is a space opera built in the same vein as BioWare’s Mass Effect franchise (also inspired by Interstellar and Alien), but instead of taking the mantle of the Normandy SR1 and Commander Shepard, you are Jun Aslan. Jun is a young salvager (crafted in the image of the player’s created guise) whose hidden lineage connects them to a revered Traveller dynasty. EXODUS is third-person, an RPG, and is set in a fictional version of the Centauri Cluster in outer space.
As a Traveller, Jun embarks on dangerous interstellar missions to recover Celestial Remnants, powerful alien technologies that may be the key to humanity’s survival against the Celestials after Earth has become uninhabitable. WOTC and Archetype have provided the new trailer at The Game Awards 2025, and it can be seen below.
The Game Awards 2025 – EXODUS Key Features Revealed!

- Players will make universe-altering decisions that may influence the factions of the Centauri Cluster, and one of his built-in Celestial abilities, The Auspex, allows him to take a glimpse into how his decisions may affect the world. Perception of Jun will change over time due to these decisions, and the overarching storyline will fall in line with how the player behaves.
- Jun Aslan will undertake missions to recover (or steal) Celestial technology called Remnants. These Celestial tools give Jun and Co. a greater understanding of the mysterious Celestial motives, and are key to humanity’s survival.
- Travelling Counts – In EXODUS revealed at The Game Awards 2025, players will travel light years between planets and due to Time Dilation, events have happened in your absence. When Jun and your party are travelling at light-year speed, time moves differently on planets in accordance with how you travel, and civilizations may have changed dramatically since your last visit. Decisions (even where you’re travelling) matters.
- Meet and recruit a team of companions with their own agendas, loyalties, quests, and relationship paths. From punk mech pilots to genetically engineered savants and even an Awakened octopus in a mech suit called Salt can join your party. Your companions can bring combat synergy, emotional depth, and personal stakes to the table during Jun’s journey. While yes, fans will be able to romance human companions, Jun cannot romance Salt; humans aren’t her type.
- The Game Awards 2025 revealed Jun’s mentor, C.C.Orlev, is a legendary Traveller who preceded Jun, and is voiced by Matthew McConaughey in his first-ever video game role. C.C. Orlev is a bit of a mythical figure in EXODUS, as no one knows where he is. But he conveniently appears when Jun needs him most, an enigmatic figure.
While EXODUS has had it’s trailer revealed at The Game Awards 2025, it will not release until at least 2027 according to Archetype Entertainment and WOTC, so fans have a lot of time to wait until adventuring into the Centauri Cluster. Fans can also hit up the official Archetype website for more information.
