The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power Confirmed For Season 3

Prime Video has announced the third season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, as it is in the pre-production stage and will start filming in spring at Shepperton Studios in the UK.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will be making an exciting return for many fans of the franchise, as Prime Video has announced the third season and the three directors who will be joining the production, with Charlotte Brändström and Sanaa Hamri returning alongside Stefan Schwartz being a new addition to the director team. The upcoming season is in a pre-production phase and will start filming at the Shepperton Studios in the UK this spring.

With the Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power capturing 170 million viewers worldwide, the head of television and Amazon MGM Studios, Vernon Sander, has shared, “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power continues to captivate audiences worldwide, and we’re thrilled that a third season is underway. Highlighting the directors who will be joining the upcoming third season, Charlotte Brändström, known for directing Shōgun and The Witcher,  was a co-executive producer and directed many episodes in the first two seasons, is returning once again as executive producer and director for the upcoming season. Returning alongside Brändström is Sanaa Hamri, the previous director of Empire (2015 – 2020) and Just Wright, who directed four episodes in the second season and Stefan Schwarts, with his previous work known for The Boys and My Lady Jane, will be joining as a new addition to direct multiple episodes for the third season. 

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has been very successful with the fans and critics, as the first season was Prime Video’s biggest TV Premiere and season two was the most-watched returning season by hours watched. The fantasy show is produced by showrunner and executive producer J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, alongside the executive producers Lindsey Weber, Justin Doble, Kate Hazell, and executive director Charlotte Brändström. Matthew Penry-Davey serves as a producer, along with co-producers Ally O’Leary, Tim Keene, and Andrew Lee. 

As of yet, not much information is known about The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’s upcoming third season outside the production news. In the meantime, as fans wait, the first two seasons are available now on Prime Video.
