Bringing The Player To The Game

PlayStation Introduces The Playerbase, A New Way For Fans To Get Into The Game

PlayStation has announced The Playerbase, a new way for fans to get fully immersed in their game by getting scanned and put directly into the game.

The Playerbase offers PlayStation fans the opportunity to step into their biggest game worlds by having their likeness scanned and appearing within a PlayStation game. It’s starting with Gran Turismo 7. This is all in the name of bringing fans closer to the games they’re playing, by putting them directly into the game by scanning the player and dropping them in. The Playerbase will be looking to expand and include fans in additional PlayStation Studios titles in the near future, following the initial Gran Turismo 7 offering.

This community program will be available in select markets in the Americas, Europe, Asia, South Africa, and Australia. Players can get started by heading to the official sign-up site, and fans will also be required to sign in with their PlayStation account ID and share additional information to participate. Not everyone will be allowed to participate.

To get selected for The Playerbase immersion, players will need to submit a story of a special memory that details why PlayStation is important to them, and upon selection, will be invited to one of PlayStation’s visual art studios to get scanned (PlayStation will cover the costs of travel for those selected and a plus one, as well as accommodation close to the studio). After the scanning is finished, the player’s likeness will be included in-game and played by fans globally.

For Gran Turismo 7, if fans are selected to be part of The Playerbase, the selected winner will appear in-game for a limited time and will help design a custom Fantasy Logo and a one-of-a-kind vehicle livery that will be added permanently to the Showcase menu.

PlayStation is looking forward to expanding The Playerbase as additional PlayStation Studios participate, having fans featured in ways that fit each game’s own style and world as a way to say thank you to fans for “making PlayStation what it is today.” More information regarding The Playerbase can be found on the official PlayStation blog.
