The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle Brings Back Sims 1 & 2 in Celebration

On Friday, EA made an announcement regarding The Sims 25th Birthday, and for the big celebration, EA is returning to its roots with The Sims and The Sims 2 original releases.

For The Sims 25th Birthday, EA is launching a bundle containing entries from the series’ history. Including the first two entries in the franchise released back in 2000 for PC, the Birthday Bundle includes the Legacy Editions of the two titles, featuring all the add-ons released since 2000. What’s interesting, is when EA first announced the 25th birthday celebration, the company did not reveal the bundle as part of their plans, making this announcement a birthday surprise. Electronic Arts has launched a release trailer bringing fans back to 2000, and it can be seen below.

The Sims and The Sims 2 will also be available to purchase separately in case fans want one or the other. The birthday celebration doubles as another anniversary, as The Sims 4 is celebrating its 10th year on the market. EA has opted to forgo a ‘true’ sequel to the fourth entry (a Sims 5 announcement) in favour of announcing other Sims-related side-projects which return the series to its roots. EA initially returned MySims to Nintendo Switch with a MySims: Cozy Bundle back in November 2024, and fans have had a “generally favourable” reception according to user ratings over on Metacritic.
