The Sims Mobile Is Given Limited Time, Will Shut Down Next Year

The Sims Mobile will sadly be having its final run as EA has made an official announcement today that the title will be shutting down.

After launching way back in 2018, The Sims Mobile has gone through over 50 updates, and has remained a cornerstone of the franchise for fans to jump in and get tasks done while out of the IRL home. Unfortunately, during the current The Sims franchise transition period, The Sims Mobile will be closing for good next year. The server shutdown will start with EA removing the ability for fans to buy in-game currency from the premium shop, then EA will stop fans from downloading the title from App Stores. But it appears the title has already been pulled.

As of October 21, at 9:30 a.m. EST, The Sims Mobile is no longer available for download on mobile app stores. Fans who do have the title installed, a final update has gone live, letting everyone receive unlimited energy to help fans make the most of the remaining time the servers stay up. EA did this to make it easier to complete projects and enjoy the last few months of play.

On January 6, the developers will take down all barriers, letting fans experience All Build Mode and unlocking all Create A Sim (CAS) items for every player. These won’t be limited by levels, so that means everything offered in Build mode and CAS is available to play around with. EA wants players to embrace their creativity before the servers close.

The Sims Mobile shutdown will enter its final phase on January 20, and a complete server shutdown will commence then. At this point, no players will have access to the game, and it will be fully closed for good. Until the official server shutdown date, events will still run in-game as normally scheduled, and fans can still earn Simoleons as usual.

As the time has now become limited on The Sims Mobile, fans can head to the official shutdown notice for more information or jump in to play before the servers close.
