After being announced last year, fans have heard nothing regarding The Sinking City 2 until today when Developer Frogwares launched a new trailer and Kickstarter campaign.
It has been a full year since the announcement of The Sinking City 2 was made at the Xbox Partner Showcase 2024 in March, and the developers at Frogwares have remained quiet regarding the sequel until today. Frogwares pulled back the curtain on a brand new trailer for their upcoming sequel, with a fresh Kickstarter campaign to help fund its development today. The Kickstarter campaign offers fans an opportunity to get in on the groud floor of The Sinking City 2, earning notable rewards for backing the game during development. There are seven tiers fans can pledge towards the sequel’s development, and they’re listed below with the early backer rewards detailed.
- Tier 1 (~$48 USD) – The Sinking City 2 base game, 10% off the Day 1 price, backer’s name included in the credits, and access to closed playtests on Steam.
- Tier 2 (~59 USD) – Everything included in Tier 1, digital rewards (wallpapers, etc), all day 1 and post launch DLC included.
- Tier 3 (~$108 USD) – Everything included in Tier 2, Limited Edition physical bundle included.
- Tier 4 (~$216 USD) – Everything included in Tier 2, Collector’s Edition Kickstarter exclusive contents included also, pictured below.
- Tier 5 (~$540 USD, 10 backers MAX) – Everything included in Tier 4, and fans can be a part of the game by writing a letter that can be found in Arkham.
- Tier 6 (~1080 USD 10 backers MAX) – Everything included in Tier 4, and fans can be a part of The Sinking City 2 by including their name and favourite quote Arkham.
- Tier 7 (~2161 USD 1 backer ONLY) – Everything included in Tier 6, and this singular fan will be allowed to name a weapon found in-game.
Frogwares CEO Wael Amr has detailed their reasoning behind deploying the Kickstarter campaign for The Sinking City 2, saying “After 3 years of this horrid war hanging over our daily lives, we’ve learned to adapt, though it has never been easy. In 2023 when we released Sherlock Holmes The Awakened with the help of Kickstarter and our loving fans, we built ourselves a safety net that saved us more than once. From power outages and the need for team members to relocate on short notice, to having to pause development for days, this safety net was crucial. Given that The Sinking City 2 is a far more complex and demanding game, we’ve decided to take the same route as before.”
