Highlighting the Japanese gaming industry, the Tokyo Game Show 2025 returns for its 29th anniversary, featuring video game announcements, activities, and more.
As gamers enjoy the many great video games released this year, such as Hollow Knight: Silksong and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Tokyo Game Show returns this year to continue celebrating the art of video games. Hosted at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan, the event will take place from September 25 to 28, 2025, featuring over 1,200 exhibitors with Japanese and international game studios, numerous streamed programs, and activities to unite gamers and creators.
Founded in 1996 by the Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA) and Nikkei Business Publications, the Tokyo Game Show is an annual event uniting gamers to present upcoming Japanese games from major and independent studios. Alongside video game announcements, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in various activities, including cosplaying as their favourite characters, visiting the exhibition to shop and play anticipated titles, relaxing at the Creator Lounge, competing in esports at the Event Stage, and more.
As the Tokyo Game Show returns for its 29th anniversary, Kanata Hongō, known as Envy in Fullmetal Alchemist and Kamakiri Chameleon Augment-01 in Shin Kamen Rider, has been selected as this year’s Official Supporter. In addition to marking its 29th anniversary, the TGS25 theme is “Unlimited, Neverending Playground”, emphasizing TGS as the place to unite creators and players from around the world to shape the future of gaming together. Lastly, the main visual is created by Zashiki Warashi, a unique online artist behind the illustration books COLOR PALETTE and DANDELION.
