Featuring Two Robust New Modes

Warframe's Old Peace Arrives December 10

A forgotten chapter of Warframe‘s lore will be revealed on December 10, when the next epic cinematic update, The Old Peace, arrives.

First announced at this year’s TennoCon, Warframe: The Old Peace‘s new quest will explore a chapter of the Operator’s past that had been previously lost in the fog of memory. Players will visit the Tau System for the first time—piloting the Excalibur Prime Warframe for quest missions, battling in trenches and against massive titans, and meeting a forgotten friend, a Sentient known as Adis. Along the way, players will also learn about the titular truce between the Orokin and the Sentients… and presumably, how it all fell apart.

Included in the update is an expansion of the game’s Focus system, including massive finishing moves like the Final Fantasy-style “limit break” move shown off in the TennoCon demo. Each of the five Focus schools will receive one of these dynamic abilities, unlockable after completing the new questline through new Tektoylst Artifacts, equippable weapons for the Operator or Drifter. The Operator will also get their first graphical overhaul, bringing the character models up to the modern standard.

Also included in The Old Peace update is a second storyline called “The Devil’s Triad,” featuring the arrival of Uriel, the 63rd Warframe; its Protoframe, Roathe; and Protoframes for Harrow (Father Lyon Allard) and Wisp (Marie Leroux). The Protoframes will have their own distinct relationship mechanics accessible through the KIM system from Warframe 1999.

Uriel’s abilities revolve around demonic construct minions who do his bidding. Meanwhile, his signature weapon is a new type for the game, embracing the World War I themes of the overall update by including a bayonet—occupying both the primary and melee spots of players’ loadouts, with their own individual mods.

The “Dark Refractium” will make up the bulk of players’ time in The Old Peace, however, with two sprawling new modes. “Descendia” is a 21-stage gauntlet involving the Devil’s Triad, where Tenno descend through an Orokin tower by completing various objectives, such as scavenging, exterminating, or even battling with Necramechs.

“Perita Rebellion,” meanwhile, is a “12-Minute War” mode themed after Tau and The Old Peace‘s main narrative. The Lotus sends the Operator into their memories of Tau for a brief time; the goal is to complete various objectives during the 12-minute period to earn power-ups, which carry into a dynamic boss fight against one of three different bosses. Hunhullis from the TennoCon trailer is one of those adversaries, and confronting him ends in an epic Archwing fight.

This time around, Digital Extremes is implementing a way for new players to join their more experienced friends or try The Old Peace‘s duo of game modes. A prompt will allow players who have not yet completed the prerequisite quest, Lotus Eaters, to temporarily bypass the story content and play along in Descendia and Perita Rebellion. After twelve years, Warframe has a staggering amount of content between newcomers and hot new content, and this concession will tantalize initiates with a taste of what awaits them.

The Old Peace will debut on December 10 as a free update. Warframe is available free-to-play on all major platforms now, with a native Nintendo Switch 2 version in development for release in 2026, and an Android beta starting today as well.
