Warner Bros. confirms new Batman for 2013

Warner Bros. Interactive has let it slip that we can expect a new instalment to the Batman Arkham franchise, and it’s coming out this year.

The news came during an investor call last week with John K. Martin, chief financial and administrative officer, non-nonchalantly mentioning their plan for a strong 2013 year and Batman as a big part of it.

“We also have a strong games release this year, which will include the next release in the Batman Arkham franchise,” he said.

The last thing that was heard about another instalment was that the game would be based on the 1950s DC comic series, where Batman teams up with Superman to form the Justice League. However, this game wasn’t expected to be out until 2014, meaning the game coming out this year may be completely different. Arkham Asylum was released back in 2009 and Arkham City in 2011, so it makes a little bit of sense that the games being released in 2013. If these aren’t the same games, it will be interesting to see what exactly this 2013 Batman game will focus on, considering the conclusion of Arkham City.
