As Ragnarök approaches, Wargaming and Day 1 Studios announce World of Tanks Modern Armor’s upcoming event, Valhalla, with the players battling alongside Thor, Loki, or Freyja.
Taking a trip to the Norse-mythology era, World of Tanks Modern Armor’s latest event, Valhalla, kicks off from May 13 to June 2. As the legendary gods and goddesses arrive in Midgard, players will pledge their loyalty to one of the three gods, fighting by their side and tackling challenges to earn rewards ranging from premium tanks to discounts on special vehicles.

World of Tanks Modern Armor is a 15v15 tactical team battle, with players commanding over 1,000 modern and historic tanks. Whether the player participates in PVP or PVE mode, the Cold War is ideal for those who enjoy fast-paced combat, while World War 2 suits those seeking tactical warfare. In addition to battling and collecting historic tanks, players can customize and upgrade their vehicles and unlock various 3D commanders to lead the battles.
Entering the World of Tanks Modern Armor: Valhalla event, players can pledge allegiance to Thor, Loki or Freyja, receiving the chosen god’s 2D Standard Commander and a Flag Voucher. After siding with one of the gods, players can take on the Champion Path Challenge stages by completing missions and earning special points, which unlock numerous rewards—including Premium tanks, 3D and 2D commanders, in-game items, discounts on special vehicles such as Odin’s tank, Gungnir, and much more. For the worthy, a 7v7 mode—Brawls of Valhalla—welcomes players to test their strength on the battlefield.
As players complete challenges to prove their worth to the chosen gods, they can gift “Valhalla Blessings” to fellow allies, granting them rewards based on Thor, Loki and Freyja.
With the arrival of the Norse mythology gods, four thematic tanks will be debuting in the Valhalla event. The tanks included are:

- Mjölnir, Détente Era Independent Light – A tank prioritizing strength and speed of the thunder god, featuring Thor’s hammers and Viking symbols.
- Lævateinn, Tier VIII Mercenary Medium – Embodying Loki’s mischief, the tank features a detailed yet mischievous design.
- Thrungva, Post-War Era Independent Heavy – A tank ready for battle, with war paints and designs based on Freyja’s passion as a warrior.
- Gungnir, Tier IX Swedish Tank Destroyer – Shrouded with the wisdom and power of Odin, the tank embodies the essence of a true Viking.
With World of Tanks Modern Armor incorporating Norse and Viking mythology, lead quest designer Grant Wojciechowski shared: “We wanted to bring the rich stories of Viking mythology to life in a way that would let players not only fight for glory but feel like they were truly earning the favour of the gods.”
Following Wojciechowski’s comments on Viking mythology in World of Tanks Modern Armor, art director Andy Dorizas explained the development team’s goal to balance the realism of modern tanks with the incorporation of mythic elements: “We did a lot of research to ensure that our tanks embodied the spirit of the gods while maintaining that sense of power and awe.”
