Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition- Nintendo Switch 2 Edition has landed on the Nintendo eShop and the My Nintendo Store digitally.
In a shadow drop announcement, Nintendo has surprisingly revealed the latest definitive edition in the Xenoblade Chronicles series, Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition exists and it’s out today on the Nintendo eShop. A new announcement trailer has gone up alongside the official reveal, and it can be seen below.
Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition launched to a positive reception when it released back in March 2025, scoring a 87% avergae on Metacritic. CGMagazine’s review of Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition calls it “a must-play for RPG or Xenoblade die-hards,” and says the title finally has a chance to shine now that it’s available on one of Nintendo’s most popular platforms. Now the title has made it to the Nintendo Switch 2. The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of the game adds up to 4K resolution visuals, with a steady frame rate of 60 fps when playing in TV mode. It will reach 1080p and up to 60fps in handheld mode.
For those who were holding out on buying the Nintendo Switch version, the Definitive Edition doesn’t just give Xenoblade Chronicles X a new coat of paint and smoother lines; it brings brand new story content for to enjoy, as well as improvements to the game’s UI and the aforementioned visual improvements. Players can take their talents online and join a squad of up to 31 other players and work together to complete tasks. Up to four squad members can team up online for special assignments and face off against powerful foes and bosses for in-game rewards.
Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is available now digitally on the Nintendo Switch 2 system, along with the Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack. For those who own the Nintendo Switch version of the title, they can upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 version for $6.99. The physical edition of the title will arrive later on April 16.
