ACEFAST ACEFIT Pro Earbuds

Brutalist Review Style (Version 2)

The ACEFIT Pro Open Ear Headphones from the company ACEFAST are ultra-thin, on-ear earbuds, designed to promote comfort and quality sound without causing ear fatigue. Equipped with 20mm drivers, coated in liquid silicone and only 0.7mm thick, the ACEFIT Pro aim to offer a solid alternative to traditional earbuds. Can these uniquely designed ultra-thin earbuds convince you to leave your favourite earbuds in their case? With several weeks of testing complete, it’s time to find out.

The ACEFIT Pro share a similar design to its predecessor, the ACEFIT Air, with the same unique open-ear design. Essentially comprised of two pieces with a liquid silicone wrap connecting the two, the ACEFIT Pro’s driver section rests on top of the ear canal, while the other piece wraps over the front of the ear and tucks in behind the upper section of the earlobe. Similar conceptually to other sports on ear headphones, the ACEFIT Pro deviate from the design by reducing the thickness, weight and overall size of the earbud.

Indeed, the ACEFIT Pro are impressively thin, measuring a mere 0.7mm at its thickest point while only weighing 7.6g. In daily use cases, even after several hours of use, the ACEFIT Pro are incredibly comfortable to wear, often not even noticeable. Several times while testing, I’d forget I was wearing them if a playlist stopped or if I had taken a call and not resumed my music.

For those with glasses who might be concerned about the design and the arms of their glasses, I can confidently say that there is no issue to fret over. With both sunglasses or prescription glasses, the ACEFAST Pro still manage to fit quite comfortably and quickly becomes unnoticeable when worn.

“I can confidently say that the ACEFIT Pro stay squarely in place on your ear when in use, despite your activity level.”

While its lightweight and thin design might raise concerns about its ability to securely rest on your ear while doing more vigorous activities such as running or cycling, once again, I can confidently say that the ACEFIT Pro stay squarely in place on your ear when in use, despite your activity level. The liquid silicon covering provides a textured surface that holds the earbuds in place firmly, even while the user is active. Thanks to their IP54 rating, running in the rain isn’t an issue. It’s a simple and impressive design.

For those who enjoy night runs or cycling, each ACEFIT Pro earbud also comes with a dedicated LED for improved visibility to others. This Night Run Mode illuminates both earbuds with a breathing LED that gets impressively bright if you desire and doubles as an illuminated logo for the ACEFIT Pro. It’s a unique and sharp aesthetic choice that works well and looks great.

Charging the ACEFIT Pro is handled via the included charging case. This thin, elongated puck-like design provides a slim profile that fits quite well in your front pocket without the standard earbud case bludge of other earbuds. As someone constantly on the go and who also enjoys listening to music constantly, I’ve appreciated not having to dig through my bag regularly to put my headphones away. The thin design provides a discreet storage alternative in your pocket.

Each earbud is secured in the case via a magnetic connection, and once inserted, it immediately begins charging. The case also provides a battery level indicator via a digital display on the lid, providing quick and clear level indication. Like the earbuds, the case also comes with a customizable LED light that can be set from within the ACEFAST app, which is available on both iOS and Android.

As for sound quality, this is where the ACEFIT Pros surprised and impressed me. Each earbud is equipped with a 20mm driver. More impressive still is that each driver is comprised of a 3-magnetic super-linear speaker and measures only .5mm at its thickest, a first of its kind for this type of application. Built specifically to widen the overall diaphragm profile, these 3-magnetic super-linear speakers are built to provide a more rounded audio profile without sacrificing size.

To further push the audio clarity and detail of the audio profile, ACEFAST has also included AELC Bass enhanced technology to help bolster the low end. This becomes paramount to the design since, as an open-ear earbud, the ACEFIT Pro can’t create an air chamber to trap low-end frequencies. When paired with the aforementioned 3-magnetic super-linear speaker, the results are quite impressive.

Frequency testing presented clean and clear results across the board. The mid and high frequencies are crisp and well presented. The lows are also quite clear and provide balanced punch that doesn’t overwhelm the mix. While two small frequency bands in the low end showed some slight distortion in stress testing, when brought back into the mix, they weren’t noticeable in any impactful way. Essentially, when listening to music, you can’t hear it.

The music presentation is quite impressive on the ACEFIT Pro. It offers an impressive range and detail in its profile that reflects the nuance of the original mix. While it cannot produce the deep rumble of a closed-back or in-ear headphone solution, this isn’t to say you cannot hear bass. I find the low-end frequencies provide a more balanced representation in the mix, not overwhelming it but rather leaving room for the mids and highs to shine through.

While I do value a superior audiophile listening experience, with the Audeze MM-100 still being my favourite affordable audiophile headphones, the ACEFIT Pro has quickly become my daily drivers for listening while at work. The audio profile on these 20mm drivers is consistent and solid, provides a fairly balanced mix and when coupled with their incredibly light design, have quickly become my go-to daily earbuds.

“The music presentation is quite impressive on the ACEFIT Pro.”

While it doesn’t provide Active Noise Cancellation due to its open design, I’ve found that thanks to its impressively loud drivers, I’ve not found the need for ANC while using the ACEFIT Pros. The audio listening experience is quite immersive, yet still allows you to remain actively aware of your surroundings. This has been a nice change from ANC-enabled headphones, which surprised me a bit during testing. I’ve become so accustomed to ANC that I’ve missed the unfiltered audio mix of standard earbuds.

Using these as my daily driver is further reinforced by the ACEFIT Pro’s solid battery life, which provides 8 hours of uninterrupted listening, something I put to the test almost every day. With the charging case in tow, you can easily get over 30 hours of listening before the case needs a recharge, making the ACEFIT Pro exceptionally convenient to take on long trips or while working long shifts.

Controlling the ACEFIT Pros, as mentioned previously, is handled via the ACEFAST App. The ACEFAST app, like the ACEFIT Pros, is a solid and simple experience. Once connected via your phone’s Bluetooth pairing, the ACEFIT Pros are immediately recognized by the app. The UI layout is simple to understand and gives you control over everything from lighting, EQ profiles and gesture controls, the latter giving you full control over the media experience from volume to pause. Everything is clearly laid out and easy to understand, making these ideal for those looking to get up and go without being slowed down by settings and customization. For those who want that customization, though, the ACEFAST app is there to support.

The ACEFIT Pro from ACEFAST are exceptionally comfortable open-ear earbuds that provide a well-balanced audio listening experience. While marketed as a sports earbud, the ACEFIT Pro are incredible as a daily driver for anyone who wants to step away from their in-ear earbud experience. From comfort to sound profile to battery life, there is a lot to love about the ACEFAST ACEFIT Pro.
