Since having to wait in a line that wrapped around a block, twice, in 1999 to watch Pokémon: The First Movie – Mewtwo Strikes Back I’ve always wondered what it would take to get a home movie theatre inside my home. Aurzen has entered the scene with their Aurzen EAZZE D1 Pro to answer that question, and the answer is that it is a lot less expensive than consumers would expect. The Aurzen EAZZE D1 Pro brings the entire home theatre experience to consumers, while only costing about 10 trips to the theatre. This comes complete with everything, aside from the 3-hour wait from 1999.
Straight out of the packaging, the Aurzen EAZZE D1 Pro is incredibly easy to set up. It arrives with a lens cap, the power plug, and the display itself. Aurzen also sells a portable projector screen and a stand for the projector separately, and I was able to take those for a spin with the projector itself. The projector comes with a dark grey finish that doesn’t detract from its function, making it blend into the background of any room aspiring to become a theatre. The glossy sheen over the front gives the EAZZE D1 Pro a premium appearance, and with the table stand, it looks like a wider-headed Luxo Jr. from the Pixar logo screen animation.

There’s an important note to make here. Although the Aurzen EAZZE D1 Pro does not come with the Z-shaped stand, it needs to be said that the projector needs it. Setting up the projector with the portable screen was a daunting task without the stand, and I needed to stack 10-15 coffee table artwork/game walkthrough books (thank you, Prima guides) to get it to the level of the screen. While this did work, moving around would disrupt the image due to the unbalanced stack of books. The Aurzen EAZZE D1 Pro needs the stand, and those in the market should buy the accompaniment or get prepared to stack books and remain still during the feature presentation.
Aside from the necessary secondary purchase, the Aurzen EAZZE D1 Pro offers 350 Lumens of brightness to allow the user to go to the theatre at most times of the day, and the brightness is still soft enough for my retinas to say thank you after longer sessions. While 350 Lumens sounds like it would work in any mediocre lit room, any sunlight that would allow vision around an entire space will conflict with the projector, or any sunlight at all. It is best used in a darkly lit room, or a room adjacent to a well-lit space. Light coming in from a hallway doesn’t infringe on the image, nor do other smaller light fixtures in an area.
“The Aurzen EAZZE D1 Pro projector smartly auto-adjusts so most tinkering is hands-off…”
The Aurzen EAZZE D1 Pro also comes with smart features. Consumers can stream their favourite YouTube content, Netflix, and Prime Video without any issues, but confusingly, Hulu appears to stream from the browser version of the app, and not a smart device version that is seamless with other devices. Thankfully this is easily remedied by plugging literally any device into the projector’s HDMI slot, and you can use any of the accompanying smart device apps to your leisure.

The arrival of the Aurzen EAZZE D1 Pro and the release of Netflix’s Arcane Season Two were mutually exclusive, so I was able to watch the season two finale on the biggest screen imaginable. The Aurzen EAZZE D1 Pro projector smartly auto-adjusts so most tinkering is hands-off, but I was able to bring the image forward to shrink the image to fit the projector screen or widen it to space it out accordingly.
The stand also allowed me to point the projector directly at the ceiling, so lying down and viewing soft rainfall to sleep at night was a genuine spectacle. I was able to project planetarium stars to the ceiling also, making any well lit New York sky filled with stars (at least from where I was laying), and it is a good option to entertain children.
“While the onboard audio does rock, the EAZZE D1 Pro comes equipped with Bluetooth 5.1, so wireless speakers (or headphones) can be attached seamlessly.”
Watching the combat scenes in Arcane on the projector was a highly immersive experience. Each punch that lands on the surface of a face echoes throughout the room with bone-crunching effect thanks to the onboard dual 10W speakers and Dolby Audio with dbx-tv Total Sonics technology. This feels like you’re watching from the sideline in the slums instead of on a screen safely at home. While the onboard audio does rock, the EAZZE D1 Pro comes equipped with Bluetooth 5.1, so wireless speakers (or headphones) can be attached seamlessly.

The Aurzen EAZZE D1 Pro also allows the user to project an image to the back of the portable screen instead of the front. This is sorcery, as it allows the audience to move about the room without fear of disturbing the projected image. If you ever thought “would you just move?” when a theatregoer stands up in front of you, this issue is correctly amicably with this small, easy-to-use feature.
The Aurzen EAZZE D1 Pro is a remarkable device. Aurzen deploys a quality small home movie theatre that’s as easy to set up as it is to watch on. Film buffs who lack technical know-how will fall in love instantly with the incredibly easy set up the EAZZE D1 Pro brings to the table, and onboard apps deflect the necessary purchase or usage of an iOS/Android device to cast to the projector.

The included HDMI port also provides users with a way to play their favourite games on a projected screen. When I was a kid, playing on a projected screen was an unattainable dream. With the Aurzen EAZZE D1 Pro, it isn’t just possible, it’s also made affordable. Consumers looking for an easy onboarding process to home theatre can grab the Aurzen EAZZE D1 Pro and call it a day. Home Theatre made simple and stunning.
