CORSAIR SABRE v2 PRO Gaming Mouse

Brutalist Review Style (Version 2)

The CORSAIR SABRE v2 PRO wireless gaming mouse is the newest iteration of the SABRE series. Aimed to be the definitive mouse for elite FPS players, this ultralight, 8K Hyper-polling wireless mouse trades bulk and frills for streamlined speed and precision. Designed to prioritize the needs of the most seasoned FPS players, there is a lot to love about the SABRE v2 PRO.

Following in the footsteps of the well-received SABRE RGB PRO that came before, the SABRE v2 PRO ups the ante with improvements across the board, starting with its weight. While most ultralights opt to shed weight by stripping literal plastic from the mouse’s casing, CORSAIR has managed to design the SABRE v2 PRO to weigh a mere 36g while still maintaining a traditional full cover casing.

When I say ultralight, I sincerely mean it. The CORSAIR SABRE v2 PRO wireless gaming mouse retains all of the design elements of the original and fits exceptionally well in the hand. Measuring 62.55 x 119.25 x 38.21 mm, the contours of the mouse allow my hand to rest comfortably while providing solid support for my palm. There is nothing flashy in the design, just well-engineered ergonomics.

Gone, too, is the RGB of its wired counterpart, aside from a small indicator light that flashes when quick-swapping DPI profiles. The SABRE v2 PRO is a sleek, non-assuming powerhouse. Much like the sleeper cars of the 70s, that looked inconspicuous on the exterior but housed massively powerful engines under the hood, the SABRE v2 PRO is, on the surface, quite unassuming.

In fact, you would be mistaken for thinking the SABRE v2 PRO is an average 5-button mouse. That being said, the primary and secondary buttons are equipped with custom-tuned mechanical switches rated for 100 million clicks. They were impressively responsive during testing and never missed a frantic mashing as I ran around DOOM: The Dark Ages trying not to die. The two side buttons, likewise, feel great to use and are well-positioned. The scroll wheel, while quite functional, doesn’t offer anything special but does serve its purpose effectively.

While all of this can be quite unassuming, what’s under the hood is quite impressive. Sporting a CORSAIR MARKSMAN S sensor, the SABRE v2 PRO tracks at a blazing 33,000 DPI, offering exceptional speed and precision. Rated for 750 IPS and 50g acceleration, the SABRE v2 PRO can handle even the reflexes of the most experienced FPS gamers. Comparable to the Razer Viper V3 Pro, the SABRE v2 PRO manages similar specs and is considerably lighter at a fraction of the price.

While this is amazing in its own right, the SABRE v2 PRO is also rated for 8,000 Hz polling, offering some of the fastest response times available on a gaming mouse, completely wirelessly. It’s an impressive feat to bring together both the incredible precision of a pro-level mouse in an ultralight form factor, all under $100 USD.

Using the CORSAIR SABRE v2 PRO is a delight. In testing with DOOM: The Dark Ages and Halo Infinite, I found the SABRE v2 PRO to provide impressive precision with every movement of the mouse. It’s a streamlined experience to use, and simply works, no fancy adjustments or configurations to manage. If you’re looking for an elite-level, plug-and-play experience, the SABRE v2 PRO is your mouse.

Battery life also performs as advertised. At 8K polling, I was consistently getting right around 16 hours as advertised. This jumps significantly when adjusted to 1K polling. While I’ve not had the time to test the advertised 70 hours of gaming at 1K, based on my experience at 8K testing, I tend to think it will have no issue going the distance.

While it is a streamlined user experience, the CORSAIR SABRE v2 PRO does offer basic settings and configuration options. While traditionally one would have to download and install iCUE, CORSAIR has opted for a new web-based interface, aptly named the CORSAIR Web Hub, that handles all of the SABRE v2 PRO’s needs, no download required.

The SABRE v2 PRO offers basic settings and configuration, including Key assignment, DPI settings and macro management. Everything is well laid out and easy to adjust with the SABRE v2 PRO, taking the new settings in real time. I have to confess that I walked into this review thinking the Web Hub would be buggy and a bit of a gimmick. I am happy to admit that I was absolutely wrong.

Though I’ve only used the Hub for this particular mouse, I absolutely love how simple and accessible it is, and also that I don’t need to run another piece of software in the background. I hope to see CORSAIR continue to refine the Web Hub and add more support for their other peripherals. It is a great and innovative approach to peripheral management.

The CORSAIR SABRE v2 PRO wireless gaming mouse is a perfect example of a premium mouse done well. CORSAIR has managed to pack an impressive amount of pro-level hardware into an incredibly ultralight package while maintaining a comfortable user experience. The inclusion of the new Web Hub is the icing on the cake, and when all is brought together, it makes the SABRE v2 PRO one of the best sub-100-dollar mice I’ve tested.
