Corsair VOID Wireless v2 Headset

Brutalist Review Style (Version 2)

The Corsair Void Wireless v2 is the latest iteration in the Void series lineup. Featuring custom-tuned 50 mm drivers, dual wireless compatibility and impressive battery life, the Void Wireless v2 aims to continue its namesake’s lineage. After a few weeks of testing and use, there’s a lot to like about this latest gaming headset from Corsair.

Building on the unique design of the Void RGB Elite Wireless that came before, the Void Wireless v2 follows a similar angular look and feel to its predecessor. Each ear cup offers a subtle squared design with a more distinct lower left corner that naturally flows to the microphone connection point on the left ear cup.

The headband likewise follows suit, with a hard plastic outer shell and a soft, padded centre on the underside. A single point on the back side of each ear cup secures the connection between the ear cups and the headband, allowing for a 90-degree swivel so the headphones can lay flat when not in use. This follows the trend of many modern headsets and works well in this application.

“When compared to the Corsair Virtuoso Max headset I reviewed last year, the Void Wireless v2 is a dream to wear and can easily be worn for long gaming sessions.”

The ear cups are quite comfortable, thanks to their memory foam padding, which is large enough to encompass the whole ear without pinching. Even when wearing glasses, the foam easily wraps around the arms and doesn’t apply additional pressure to the sides of your head. While a closed ear cup can lead to heat concerns during prolonged use, Corsair has wrapped the memory foam in light, breathable microfibre material that, even after a few weeks of use, has effectively reduced heat buildup over extended sessions.

The VOID Wireless v2 also features a nice, compact, two two-zone RGB strip located along the front of each ear cup that offers a soft and diffused lighting experience. The other notable observation is that the headset is quite light and comfortable to wear. It manages to sit securely in place without noticeable pressure on the sides or top of your head. When compared to the CORSIAR Virtuoso Max headset I reviewed last year, the VOID Wireless v2 is a dream to wear and can easily be worn for long gaming sessions.

Controls for the Void Wireless v2 are centralized, simplified and located on the left ear cup. Consisting of two buttons, volume control and a flip-to-mute microphone (a personal favourite), Corsair has done an excellent job of streamlining the controls on the Void Wireless v2 to make navigation simple and easy to manage without pulling you out of the action.

The power button is located on the faceplate and doubles as a connection-swapping control (more on this in a moment). Directly below it is a programmable button that can handle a range of system functions, from media control to EQ profiles. Volume is adjusted via a toggle switch on the lower part of the ear cup, which is easy to locate and use. It’s simple and streamlined and feels great to use while gaming on either console or PC.

Swapping and connecting to Bluetooth requires nothing more than tapping the power button and selecting your desired device. Once connected, cycling between devices is just a power-button tap away. In testing, I was able to easily and quickly connect the Void Wireless v2 to both my Switch and PC without issue. In each case, the Void Wireless v2 performed well and didn’t require any additional configuration to use.

This simplicity of design is perhaps the biggest standout feature of the overall build of the Void Wireless v2. It offers a plug-and-play experience for those who want ease of use, while still delivering a deep and rich audio experience with solid customization options for those who want more control. It strikes a balance between the two quite well, making this an ideal headset for a wide range of gamers.

In audio testing, the Void Wireless v2 performed well. Frequency testing revealed a fairly consistent listening experience without any major areas of concern. The custom-tuned 50 mm neodymium drivers favoured a slightly brighter profile when set to default. This is helpful for picking up directional cues and provides clear, clean dialogue during cutscenes. All of this can, of course, be adjusted in iCUE, thanks to the available presets and custom EQ profile settings.

As with many modern headsets, the Void Wireless v2 supports Dolby Atmos spatial audio on Windows and Tempest 3D Audio for PlayStation 5. While I couldn’t test the latter, the former worked well and delivered accurate, clear directional audio. The overall listening experience for gaming is solid and fairly immersive. While there is no active noise cancellation on the Void Wireless v2, the closed-ear cup design helps filter out most background noise—and with the volume cranked up, it’s barely noticeable.

Music testing revealed a decent overall listening experience. The Void Wireless v2 provided a clear and clean representation of the audio mix during playback, though nothing stood out to set it apart from other headsets in its price range. Still, it offered a solid experience—perfectly fine for everyday use unless you’re specifically seeking an audiophile-grade sound.

One audio feature that did stand out, however, was the attached microphone. Gaming mics have come a long way over the last two generations of headsets I’ve tested. Where they were once merely serviceable audio capture tools, the rise of mainstream streaming culture in recent years appears to have driven a push for better onboard microphones in gaming headsets.

Corsair has taken note, and the Void Wireless v2 microphone is the result. It’s clean, clear and delivers a well-rounded capture. I was quite impressed with how well it managed the lower end of my vocal range, which is typically a challenge for gaming microphones. The capture offers clean mids and highs while blending in the fullness of the low end. During a test call with a friend over Discord, he reported that vocals were clean, clear and easy to understand—without any artifacting, which, over Discord, is a minor miracle.

The final area of testing for the Void Wireless v2 is battery life. Rated for 70 hours, the Void Wireless v2 mostly performed as advertised. If you leave the RGB lighting on throughout use, you’ll notice a reduction in uptime. That said, it was never a major concern, thanks to the built-in quick charging. Plugging in the Void Wireless v2 for 15 minutes provides about six additional hours of use—slightly less with RGB enabled. For a $119.99 gaming headset, the battery life is genuinely impressive.

The Corsair Void Wireless v2 is a solid, budget-conscious headset for gaming. With impressive compatibility, audio quality and battery life, there’s a lot to love about the Void Wireless v2. The focus on comfort also adds to the overall value. Paired with an easy-to-use setup and control scheme—and priced competitively at $119.99—it’s hard not to recommend the Corsair Void Wireless v2.
