Edifier G2000 Pro Splendid 2.0

Like headphones, finding good speakers is no easy task. It takes time and patience, and we are all particular about what we like. I have always enjoyed the Edifier brand and have a pair of its bookshelf speakers in my studio at home. I chose them for the music corner of that room because of the acoustics and how well they complement the Audio Technica record player I use. As a casual PC gamer, I was curious to test the new Edifier G2000 Pro Splendid 2.0 Gaming Speakers, as I usually rely on headphones when I play games on my computer.

I love music, and I love gaming, so the blend of both exists naturally in my household. I have top-of-the-line gaming headsets, along with surround-sound speakers and soundbars for my televisions. The one thing I have been missing for years is a decent set of computer speakers.

This has just been one of those things that I let slide to the wayside once my original Logitech speakers short-circuited and stopped working a few years back. I’ve had ample top-of-the-line gaming headphones, so I didn’t feel the need to purchase speakers. When I received the invitation to try out the new Edifier G2000 Pro Splendid 2.0 Gaming Speakers, it immediately spiked my interest, simply due to the fact that I already own their products and was curious to see what the major difference would be between them.

“The Edifier G2000 Pro Splendid 2.0 Gaming Speakers offer a 270-degree panoramic transparent acoustic enclosure that creates a wide acoustic field.”

Aesthetically, these speakers are very attractive and very pleasing to look at on a desk. The matte finish on the front works out with my current setup, as it matches the bezel of my monitors as well as my matte keyboard and mouse. I’ve never once been a fan of RGB lighting, but I’ve been enjoying the TempoFlow lighting technology. This tech displays a dynamic lighting effect that synchronizes the light with the sound being transferred through the speakers.

The rear lighting design enhances your gaming experience without being too overwhelming to your nighttime or dark room visual experience. Edifier G2000 Pro Splendid 2.0 Gaming Speakers also have 7 dynamic lighting effects that will illuminate your desk with colour. We love customization, and with these visually, you can really match it to further immerse itself within your gaming desk setup.

These speakers came to me at the right time as I was halfway through the campaign of Doom: The Dark Ages. This was possibly one of the best games to test out these speakers. It’s loud, so much is happening all at once, and the music is phenomenal. Playing for a few hours was quite the immersive experience for me. One thing in particular that stood out to me were the lows during cutscenes when characters were speaking.

Sometimes when I’m playing a game through speakers, I’ll have to turn up the volume at dialogue scenes, but I didn’t have to worry about that with the Edifier G2000 Pro Splendid 2.0. One thing I had an issue with was navigating the software in Windows. On the website, it shows off that you can change audio settings and swap into various listening modes, but I did not see these options at all. I’ve looked into current and old drivers as well, and still no solution.

Let’s get into the most important thing about these speakers: the audio quality. They provide an immersive 7.1 surround-sound experience. Powered by a dedicated DSP chip, the sound can be optimized through the HECATE gaming centre to suit your needs. Along with Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity, you can connect other devices through USB-A, USB-C or the aux input. These devices can include laptops, phones, TVs, gaming consoles and other smart devices. Although the speakers are small, they deliver an impressive 32-watt power output. Edifier has long been known for clear acoustics, and these gaming speakers do not disappoint.

The dual-layered bass-reflex port is designed to enhance low-frequency extension, which reduces distortion and improves bass performance. The rear air-grille heat-dissipation design supports a stable operating temperature and delivers consistent sound output. Lastly, the Edifier G2000 Pro Splendid 2.0 Gaming Speakers offer a 270-degree panoramic transparent acoustic enclosure that creates a wide acoustic field while supporting a futuristic gamer aesthetic.

I’ve really enjoyed the Edifier G2000 Pro Splendid 2.0 and couldn’t find anything problematic about them. The audio is clean and clear, the bass is tremendous, and the price is right. Coming in at $250, this is a very comfortable price for a mid-tier set of speakers. If you’re familiar with the brand, you already know what you’re getting into. For those who aren’t, Edifier is known to put out consistent quality products that are often in an affordable price range. If you are in the market for a mid-tier speaker, I would highly recommend this product. Once you add them in and boot up your favourite game, you will not be disappointed.
