The Hollyland VenusLiv Air is an incredibly powerful 4K30 webcam designed to deliver cinematic-quality capture. Equipped with a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor and an f/1.05 lens, the VenusLiv Air is easily the most powerful webcam I have tested. Packed with impressive features, 24/7 streaming capability and a wide range of capture and streaming options, the Hollyland VenusLiv Air delivers one of the best capture experiences available for under $1,000.
Designed to serve as a complete capture solution for home creators and small production studios, the VenusLiv Air is a 4K30fps webcam that operates more like an entry-level cinema camera than a traditional webcam. Admittedly, the body of the VenusLiv Air is bulkier than most webcams on the market, but that trade-off is easy to justify once you see the results.

The camera itself features a square body, a single front lens housing the 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor and one of the most sophisticated rear panels I have seen on a webcam. The unit weighs a hefty 660 grams for the camera body alone and measures 134 x 97 x 101 mm (L x W x H). It also includes a 3-inch TFT touchscreen display that can be flipped for rear- or front-facing viewing, allowing users to preview their shot before going live.

There is an impressive selection of ports, including HDMI 2.0, USB-C 3.0, USB-C digital audio, a 2.5 mm audio jack, an SD card slot and an RJ45 network port. All of these options work together with the built-in wireless card to give users flexibility in how they capture and stream. A single DC-in port powers the device and allows users to swap the plug depending on the region, making it easy to adapt the camera to different locations and power requirements.
The lens is also an impressive piece of hardware that delivers exceptionally clear and crisp visual capture. With an equivalent focal length of 25 mm and an f/1.05 aperture, the VenusLiv Air is ideal for desktop or tripod placement.

Even when using the 4x digital zoom, the image remains consistently clear. In testing, I was particularly impressed with the 50-megapixel capture, especially in lower-light settings. The VenusLiv Air also features solid autofocus, along with AI face tracking that can be turned on or off, or reassigned with a quick tap on the touchscreen.
More impressive still is the sheer number of settings available on the VenusLiv Air. While they can be accessed directly through the touchscreen, I found it most convenient to use either the HollyCam mobile app for iOS and Android or the HollyStudio desktop app for PC and Mac.
Once installed, the mobile app connects via Wi-Fi and takes only a moment to set up. The desktop software is even simpler. Plug the camera directly into your PC, and it is immediately recognized by the application. Everything works exceptionally well and without issue, and the user interface is streamlined and easy to navigate.

As for runtime, I kept the camera powered on for more than three weeks without turning it off. During that time, I repeatedly recorded and streamed content, and the camera was always ready when needed. Even after power cycling my computer, the VenusLiv Air was immediately recognized and ready to go.
For streamers who want a plug-and-play experience, the VenusLiv Air delivers exactly that. Once connected, OBS recognizes it immediately. For users looking to streamline their setup further, attaching a wireless microphone receiver to the camera through the second USB-C port allows the device to output both audio and video directly to capture software, already synchronized and ready to stream.

The VenusLiv Air supports onboard recording through its built-in SD card slot, with a large red record button located on the top of the camera. Even more impressive are the onboard streaming capabilities. Once connected to Wi-Fi or LAN, users can select RTMP streaming directly from the touchscreen menu.
After selecting the option, a QR code appears that can be scanned using a smartphone. This prompts the user to link their streaming accounts to the VenusLiv Air. The camera can then stream directly to your preferred platform, supporting up to two platforms simultaneously. It works exactly as advertised, is simple to set up and takes only a moment to configure.
“The VenusLiv Air easily stands out as one of the best options available.”
Another impressive feature of the VenusLiv Air is its quick orientation swapping. Switching between horizontal and vertical filming is simply a matter of rotating the camera. With two built-in tripod threads, the camera automatically adjusts its output based on the current orientation. Even the touchscreen rotates automatically to match the camera’s position. It is a simple but clever feature that makes the VenusLiv Air incredibly adaptable to different setups.

I am thoroughly impressed with everything Hollyland has packed into the VenusLiv Air. While it carries a slightly higher price than most 4K webcams, the sheer number of features, excellent capture quality, and overall versatility help justify its $549.99 price tag. If you are in the market for a 4K webcam capable of producing cinematic-quality video, the VenusLiv Air easily stands out as one of the best options available.
