Infinix HOT 60 Pro+

The Infinix HOT 60 Pro+ is the latest smartphone from its HOT phone series. Touted as the world’s slimmest curved display smartphone, the HOT 60 Pro+ provides an impressively thin form factor, solid battery life, and featherlight weight, priced at an incredibly competitive $150. While there is a lot to love about Infinix’s latest ultra-thin phone, there is a cost to creating the world’s thinnest curved display smartphone.

Built with this singular mission in mind, the HOT 60 Pro+ is astonishingly thin. Measuring a mere 5.95mm, this ultra-thin phone weighs a mere 155g, making it the lightest and thinnest phone I’ve tested, bar none. While it has comparable dimensions in length and width to the Poco F7 Ultra I reviewed last March, it feels surreal to hold both phones in hand at the same time. The HOT 60 Pro+ is incredibly lightweight and thin, barely wider than the power and volume buttons located on the right side of the device.

Examining the exterior finish of the phone, it’s easy to see the philosophy of design in the HOT 60 Pro+. Constructed of a durable 0.36mm fibreglass for the back panel and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i for the front glass, this phone is built to withstand the punishment of our daily lives. With an IP65 dust and water rating, the HOT 60 Pro+ can handle most things thrown its way with ease.

While most smartphone designers opt for two to three colours for their smartphone launch, Infinix has opted to provide a whopping six different designs and colours for the back of the HOT 60 Pro+. The Misty Violet version received for the review has a matte finish that simmers in the light. Each offers a different colour and texture, giving users lots of options to choose from. It’s a fun design choice that allows people to lean into their unique personalities a bit when selecting their phone.

The trade-off to this fibreglass design, though, is that some of the more premium features, such as wireless charging, cannot be accommodated with the design. As a result, users will need to rely on traditional cable charging for the HOT 60 Pro+. With that being said, Infinix included 45W fast charging on the HOT 60 Pro+ to power up its 5160mAh battery, which translates to a 0-100% charge in just under an hour in my testing.

What is more impressive, though, is how thin the battery actually is. Coming in at 20% thinner than standard smartphone batteries, this 5160mAh battery allows for the HOT 60 Pro+’s incredibly compact form factor, not to mention its lighter weight. It’s an impressive and innovative feat that is encouraging to see in an industry that has become fairly standardized in format and design.

“Sporting a 1.5K 144Hz AMOLED curved display, the HOT 60 Pro+ provides a bright and vibrant image.”

As the world’s thinnest curved display smartphone, Infinix has ensured to include a fairly impressive one, especially when considering its budget-friendly price point. Sporting a 1.5K 144Hz AMOLED curved display, the HOT 60 Pro+provides a bright and vibrant image.  Rated for 700 nits average brightness with an impressive 4500nits peak brightness, the HOT 60 Pro+ works exceptionally well, even in direct sunlight. Content viewing is great on this ultrathin, curved display, providing hours of crystal clear streaming.

As for functionality, the display is rated for up to 240Hz touch sampling. This translates to a responsive user experience and is comparable to what we see on most modern smartphones. In daily use tested I’ve found the display responsive and crisp to view content on. Even Excel spreadsheets and PDF documents look sharp and clear when viewed on the HOT 60 Pro+. As the selling feature for the HOT 60 Pro+, Infinix has done a solid job at balancing performance and quality, all while working to maintain a budget-conscious solution for users.

While I’ve been impressed with the form factor, battery and the curved AMOLED display, the rest of the hardware is a bit lacklustre by comparison. The HOT 60 Pro+ sports a MediaTek Helio G200, an upgrade over its predecessor, the G100. This iteration of the Helio G series processor focuses on boosting video, camera and connectivity performance. While it does see a boost in all of these areas, notably better GPU support with increased HDR efficiency, it is still quite a modest processor.

Coupled with Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, 256GB storage (128GB model also available) and 8GB RAM + up to 8GB RAM extended, the HOT 60 Pro+ is a reliable, albeit entry-level, performer. Geeekbench places the HOT 60 Pro+ at the lower end of the list with a single-core score of 671 and a multi-core score of 1812, placing it just above the Redmi Note 10 Pro. This places the phone squarely in the budget-friendly performer category.

That being said, in many tests, the HOT 60 Pro+ performed well. Video streaming looked gorgeous on the AMOLED display and performed well without any notable lag or buffering, even at higher resolution streaming. Every day use tests, such as texting, emails, video calls, etc., all ran smoothly without issue. Social media scrolling and web browsing, likewise, all worked without issue. The HOT 60 Pro+ even provides an adjustable picture-in-picture for multi-app viewing.

I was actually impressed with the HOT 60 Pro+ XOS, the company’s skin for the standard Android OS. Despite the modest specs, the AI-powered OS managed to provide a responsive OS experience. App opening and refresh are snappy and quick, OS animations are smooth, and the overall user experience is painless.

As for high-resource apps and task testing, this is where the HOT 60 Pro+ begins to show its limitations. While light gaming is no problem for the ultra-thin phone, resource-heavy titles such as Diablo Immortal and the new Destiny Rising, though playable, won’t look great while doing it. Stripping back the quality settings allowed for a fairly smooth 30FPS experience, but it was a notably lower quality experience than I prefer. Not surprising considering the hardware powering the HOT 60 Pro+.

The surprising feature is the HOT 60 Pro+’s 50-megapixel camera. Sporting a Sony IMX882 sensor, the HOT 60 Pro+ performed better than expected in camera testing. While it is limited to 2K at 30 frames per second, the camera still delivered solid results. In point-and-shoot tests, the HOT 60 Pro+ did a decent job of cleaning up images immediately after capture by leveraging its AI engine. I noted a slight delay before the preview displayed the picture I had just taken, but the resulting photo was consistently focused, crisp and clear.

“Coupled with Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, 256GB storage and 8GB RAM + up to 8GB RAM extended, the HOT 60 Pro+ is a reliable, albeit entry-level, performer.”

The selfie camera performed well, though it struggled somewhat in lower-light settings. In contrast, the rear camera’s Sony sensor handled low light impressively, pulling in enough light to produce a sharp night shot. Night mode boosted brightness further, though even the default setting handled dim conditions reliably.

In terms of connectivity, while Wi-Fi and Bluetooth worked well, the HOT 60 Pro+ is limited to 4G. This was unexpected, given today’s available networking technology. More than the CPU performance limits, the lack of 5G support seems to be the device’s biggest drawback.

So, who is the HOT 60 Pro+ for? Priced at $150, Infinix’s latest HOT 60 model is a strong entry-level phone that delivers performance above its price point. While it cannot compete with mid-range devices, the HOT 60 Pro+ offers solid everyday use for productivity, social media and content streaming. Its ultra-thin form factor is also appealing, particularly for those accustomed to heavier phones, and its battery life is reliable, with quick charging for high-use days.

The Infinix HOT 60 Pro+ also features an above-average display. The AI-powered operating system helps offset its modest specs, resulting in dependable day-to-day performance. While it lacks the power needed for resource-heavy apps, the HOT 60 Pro+ remains a worthwhile choice for budget-conscious buyers seeking an affordable option for regular use.
