When I saw the opportunity to review the new Logitech G522 Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Headset was available, I jumped at it without even flinching. My daily driver for the last 2 years has been the Logitech G935, I’ve had various editions of this wireless headset and it’s been my absolute favourite. I’ve never tried anything from the Lightspeed collection as yet so I was excited and curious to try out this new headset.
I work from home and I’m wearing a headset for at least 6-8 hours of my day, so when it comes to a headset for me I need a few non negotiables, comfort, amazing audio quality, and something wireless with a long lasting battery. The Logitech G522 Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Headset seemingly checked off of these boxes upon reading the press release, so I knew I had to put it to the test to see if I would be switching over to something new in the near future.

The hunt for great gaming headphones has been quite the task over the last couple of years. We have so many options to choose from from so many different companies that this, for some, seems like a very daunting task. We all have different circumstances and personal preferences when it comes to buying tech that we could be doing this for literal weeks. I know when I’m in the hunt for a new headset it takes me about a month to decide what I want. The Logitech G522 Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Headset seemingly checked off all of my must haves for a headset and during my time testing it, I wasn’t once disappointed.
I want to preface this by saying I only had one real complaint with this headset, it was the earcups. I work from home and I spend the majority of my work day at my desk with headphones on as I move from one online meeting to another. I’ve used headphones in the past that were far too heavy, gave me ear fatigue as well as made my ears sweaty due to not being made without breathable materials. Right out of the box I really enjoyed how light this headset was. Compared to my Logitech G935 it was pretty light, which makes sense as this G522 Lightspeed weighs in at 10.23oz (290g). It makes for a very comfortable experience while it’s resting on your head.
“The Logitech G522 Lightspeed can give you up to 40 hours of use while the Lightsync RBG lights are on, and an additional 10 hours, bringing it to a potential total of 50 hours with the lights off.”
With this being said, the ear cups, though breathable, aren’t great in my opinion. Acknowledging that this is strictly a personal preference, but when it comes to ear cups on a wireless gaming headset, they aren’t soft enough. I’ve been using the Logitech G522 Lightspeed for a few days now so maybe it’ll take some time to break in? That being said, I prefer a softer and spongy feel to my ear cups, I sometimes feel like the harder and more firm earcups give me a headache, I’m not a doctor but I feel like this makes sense.

As mentioned, I work from home and my headphones are in use typically 6-8 hours a day. That being said, when looking for a pair of headphones I need something that can hold a charge for a good period of time as well as still keep its audio quality. The Logitech G522 Lightspeed can give you up to 40 hours of use while the Lightsync RBG lights are on, and an additional 10 hours, bringing it to a potential total of 50 hours with the lights off. I’ve never been too keen on the whole light up aesthetic of PC accessories so I tend to keep these functions off.
If wireless isn’t your jam you do have the option to plug into your PC or device using the USB-C cable that came in the box or connect to your devices via Bluetooth. I do appreciate these additional options because if you’re someone like me, who has a work laptop with limited ports, the Bluetooth option is the best way to go in my current situation.
“…the Logitech G522 Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Headset is truly a great headset to own for everyday use as well as gaming.”
Let’s talk tech and get into those fine details for those taking notes at home. The Logitech G522 Lightspeed has a frequency response of 20hz to 20kHz, which is great as I can move around my office freely without the worry of having a fuzzy connection losing connection in general. Getting more into the weeds of this, the wireless Lightspeed technology sits at 24bit/48kHz which can put you at a distance of up to 30 meters away from the Lightspeed dongle, and did I mention it has Bluetooth as well? This is absolutely perfect for almost any office space.
Logitech is known for having best in class audio clarity, and with the G522 Lightspeed wireless gaming headset they deliver with a full bandwidth 48kHz/16bit microphone for crystal clear in game communication and broadcast quality audio streaming. They’ve also included their state-of-the-art PRO-G audio drivers that deliver synchronized 48kHz/24 bit audio for exceptional sound quality, low distortion and rich bass for this wireless gaming headset.

All in all, the Logitech G522 Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Headset is truly a great headset to own for everyday use as well as gaming. I really enjoyed my time with this headset, it was comfortable, the audio quality was top notch, and it had really great battery life. Though this gaming headset is lightweight and has great audio, the ear cups are far too firm and I found them uncomfortable. Is this a reason to bring down this review? Not at all mainly due to acknowledging that this is truly a personal issue on my end and not within my preference for wireless gaming headsets.
If you’re currently in the market for a new wireless or wireless gaming headset, I can with confidence suggest the Logitech G522 Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Headset to everyone, with the small caveat if you’re like me, the ear cups might be a bit bothersome in the long run.
