At that point, the Z10 Ultra is prompted to begin its initial scan of the room. Once complete, you are ready for the first deep clean.
I have been impressed with Narwal’s LiDAR 4.0 navigation system for several reasons. It features accurate room detection and strong object identification. The system presents all data with full 3D mapping, including cable detection and room identification. The cable detection includes image attachments, allowing you to view the identified cable without leaving the app. It is one of the more advanced mapping systems I have worked with and allows for seamless room additions after the initial mapping.
Overall, I’ve been impressed at how efficiently and quickly the Freo Z10 Ultra cleans a space. It has no issue navigating new objects placed in a space with quick response to moving objects, such as my son, who never pays attention while walking to the kitchen on his phone. The extendable mop and brush heads also do an excellent job at getting under hard-to-reach surfaces.
A great example of this is the transition strip between our kitchen and living room. Due to a half-inch floor height difference between the two rooms, the transition strip is slightly raised and has become home to much debris that gets tucked under there. While running the cleaning cycle, the Z10 Ultra immediately identified the space with the brushes, easily cleaning out from under that space.
When cleaning, the Freo Z10 Ultra masterfully navigates space without issue. Of note is its ability to identify new foreign objects in real time, and still clean to within millimetres of the object. On that note, the Z10 Ultra also comes with impressive real-time adaptive cleaning. While cleaning a space, the vacuum will identify debris as wet or dry and swap between the mop and brush accordingly, all while continuing its cleaning route. I did not note any slowdown in the cleaning process while the vacuum identified and adjusted its cleaning head to accommodate new spills.
On the note of spills, the Freo Z10 Ultra’s AI detection system provides a unique feature I’ve not seen in other robot vacuums. It can, in real time, adjust the water temperature for the mop washing cycle to ensure that whatever spill, be it milk left over from breakfast or oil splashed on the floor from cooking, is fully removed. This has proven to be incredibly reliable and effective, providing a consistent cleaning experience every time during testing.

Another element of the Z10 Ultra’s design that I appreciate is its separation of dry and wet debris during vacuuming. The vacuum features a dual collection chamber that separates these two types of waste automatically during clean-up. It reduces, for lack of a better term, the nastiness of cleaning out the vacuum and reduces odours that can build up over time from the mix of wet and dry debris.
With its impressive suction and brush system, the Z10 Ultra has no issue picking up dust and hair. While this can cause issues for some vacuums over time, with hair specifically becoming tangled in the brushes, the Z10 Ultra combats this with its dualFlow tangle-free system. Essentially, a center roller system located on the bottom of the vacuum pulls hair and dust off the brushes constantly while the vacuum is cleaning and stores it safely in the disposal chamber. As the system is always engaged during cleaning, the brushes are always being cleaned while cleaning the floor. It’s a slick system that has, thus far, proven effective at combating tangling.
The final note on floor cleaning relates to how adaptable the Z10 Ultra is to multiple surface levels. While it can navigate over transitions with ease, I have been more impressed by the automatic mop head retraction that occurs when moving from hard surfaces to carpets. The Z10 Ultra detects the change in surface, engages the mop lift feature and boosts suction to accommodate the softer flooring.
This provides a consistent cleaning experience regardless of surface type. It worked flawlessly in testing and saved me the hassle of moving rugs and door mats around the house during cleaning. When filling the vacuum with clean water, the base station also mixes in floor detergent, housed in another part of the station. These detergent cartregies are concentrated and easily swappable when empty.
As for dust collection, the base station houses a 2.5L dust bag and features a unique compression system to allow for a more efficient dust storage solution. This results in longer periods of time between bag swapping.

In testing, the vacuum had no issue deep cleaning the entire floor with plenty of charge left, meaning you should have no issue with running the vacuum through an entire floor of your home before needing a charge.
The Narwal app is also an impressive addition to the system. While it offers all of the features you would expect from a Robot vacuum system, I was most impressed with the amount of detailed information the app provided. From dust bag fill levels to an impressive amount of manual control over everything from washing the mop heads to tank water levels, the Narwal app provides every detail needed to manage the system with ease.
