SAMA G Series 1000W

Brutalist Review Style (Version 2)

The SAMA G Series power supply is designed from the ground up for efficiency, quiet operation and compact PC builds. An ATX 3.1-equipped PSU, the G Series delivers a solid balance of consistent power output and effective cooling. With four models available, 1000W, 850W, 750W and 650W, the lineup offers competitively priced, budget-conscious options for a wide range of PC builds.

The G Series 1000W unit received for review comes in Arctic white and is also available in black. Its fully modular design helps maximize case space while reducing cable clutter. The included white cables, matched to the PSU, provide connectivity for a wide range of hardware components. Notably, the G Series 1000W includes a native 12V-2×6 connector, ensuring the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 and 40 series graphics cards receive sufficient power.

Construction of the G Series 1000W follows standard power supply design principles, with ample ventilation for both air intake and exhaust. Cooling is handled by a large 140 mm fan. The fluid dynamic bearing fan is designed to operate quietly under normal loads while still delivering strong thermal performance.

“The SAMA G Series power supply is designed from the ground up for efficiency, quiet operation and compact PC builds.”

For readers unfamiliar with fluid dynamic bearing fans, the design uses a pressurized liquid housed between the bearing and the fan shaft. This creates a near-frictionless surface that allows the fan to spin smoothly, resulting in little to no operational noise. Another advantage of the design is longevity, as reduced friction leads to less overall wear over time.

The fluid-dynamic bearing system is paired with rubberized pads at each corner of the fan. These pads help reduce vibration while the fan is operating, as well as turbulence created during rotation. It is a thoughtful design choice that reflects SAMA’s commitment to producing a premium product. During testing, the power supply remained virtually silent during normal operation and remained relatively quiet even under load.

Another notable aspect of the design is its compact construction. Measuring 150 by 150 by 86 millimetres, width by length by height, the G Series 1000W is small for a 1000-watt power supply. During installation, the compact size provided ample room for cable management, even with larger hands.

“The G Series 1000W is an excellent choice for gamers seeking both high power output and a compact design.”

For testing, I installed the G Series 1000W in the SAMA V60 curved glass case. Thanks to the dual-chamber design, the power supply appeared quite small once installed. It is also worth noting that despite its compact construction, no special mounting brackets are required, as it fits within a standard power supply mounting frame.

The G Series 1000W is a high-output unit rated for both ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1, including support for the 12V-2×6 connector. SAMA built the unit using Japanese capacitors, which have a long-standing reputation for reliability and longevity in the technology industry. At this wattage level, durability is critical, and SAMA has taken care not to cut corners in this area.

This attention to detail is consistent throughout the design and construction of the G Series 1000W. With an 80 PLUS Gold certification, the unit delivers efficient power distribution while helping protect both the power supply and connected components. A review of the specifications shows that SAMA has incorporated multiple layers of protection, including over-power, over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current, over-temperature and surge protection. These safeguards help ensure long-term reliability and safe operation.

I raise this point because finding a power supply of this calibre at a $114.99 price point is rare. On average, comparable models with similar specifications typically fall closer to the $140 to $150 range, not including the added benefit of a more compact form factor. It is a testament to SAMA’s pedigree and its commitment to producing quality components for the average PC builder. Overall, I am impressed with the G Series 1000W.

The G Series 1000W power supply from SAMA is a strong offering that delivers the features expected from a premium PSU at a consumer-conscious price point. From build quality to installation and overall performance, the G Series 1000W is an excellent choice for gamers seeking both high power output and a compact design.
