For a long time now, Sennheiser has been synonymous with top-of-the-line audio quality. Whether it’s headphones or microphones, they are easily an audiophile’s easiest choice when it comes to branding. Recently, I have been using the HD620S headphones and can say that they have once again maintained their name by releasing an incredible product. The Sennheiser HD620S has a lot going for it, between incredible sound quality, comfort, sleek design, and quite possibly some of the best noise cancellation I have experienced.
The Sennheiser HD620S headphones have a very subdued design, with no bells and whistles, and focus more on the quality of the audio than the sheer number of additions. The headphones feature a robust build quality with a combination of matte black plastic and metal components. The earcups are made from high-quality plastic with a subtle texture that not only adds to the durability but also reduces weight. The headband is well-padded with soft leather, and the ear cushions are made from a plush material that contributes to long-lasting comfort.

The HD620S’s build quality feels solid, with no creaks or loose parts. The adjustable headband and swivelling earcups ensure a secure fit, accommodating a range of head sizes and shapes. The headphones are designed for home use rather than portable use, which is evident from their size and the absence of a foldable design. Not to mention the lack of a Bluetooth connection.
“Comfort is one of the standout features of the Sennheiser HD620S headphones.”
Comfort is one of the standout features of the Sennheiser HD620S headphones. The earcups fit around the ears without putting undue pressure on them. The ear cushions are soft and provide a snug yet comfortable seal, which helps in passive noise isolation. The headband’s padding is ample and distributes the weight of the headphones evenly across the top of the head. The weight is well-balanced, and the plush materials used in the earcups contribute to a feeling of luxury. For users with glasses like myself, the HD620S provides a comfortable experience without causing discomfort or fatigue.
Sound quality is where the Sennheiser HD620S truly shines. It is designed to deliver a neutral and detailed sound, with a focus on accuracy. The HD620S has a controlled and precise bass and it’s not overly boomy or exaggerated, but it provides enough depth and impact to satisfy listeners who enjoy a bit of low-end presence. The bass is tight and well-defined, which helps maintain clarity across various music genres. It offers a rich and clear presentation of vocals and instruments.

For gaming, the Sennheiser HD620S does an incredible job of really immersing the user in the soundscape of each game. Whether you are traveling around Baldur’s Gate 3 or fighting across maps in the bayou swamps of Hunt: Showdown. The HD620S does a fantastic job of setting the stage for players to become immersed and feel like they are living in the action. Hearing House of Hope during Raphael’s fight is something that, with the HD620S, is somehow even more incredible.
“Sound quality is where the Sennheiser HD620S truly shines.”
While the best use case for the Sennheiser HD620S is clearly for listening to music on a professional level, fitting more into users who have access to a mixer rather than your average listener, although there is an attachment that allows users to use a 3.5mm connection over the intended 6.3mm audio jack, the lack of a Bluetooth connection does make it feel at odds with other more streamlined portable headsets, especially when most cell phones are without a headphone jack. But again, its natural sound cancellation is incredible, and I would have loved to have used the Sennheiser HD620S for travel, but the lack of ways to connect it to my phone prohibits that.
The Sennheiser HD620S is a premium headset offering. While they are not the most affordable headphones on the market, the quality of sound and build justifies the investment for audiophiles, but not the mass market of casual listeners. The combination of superior sound quality, exceptional comfort, and solid construction makes the HD620S a worthwhile purchase for those who prioritize high-fidelity audio. But, for those seeking well rounded audio, the Sennheiser HD620S headphones are a really worthwhile device, so long as you aren’t looking for a more portable option.

The Sennheiser HD620S headphones are a testament to Sennheiser’s commitment to producing high-quality, audiophile-grade headphones. With its balanced sound, excellent comfort, and solid build quality, the HD620S delivers an immersive and accurate listening experience. While it may not be the most affordable option, its performance and craftsmanship make it a valuable addition to any serious listener’s collection.
