The Status Pro X are the latest premium earbuds from Status Audio. Featuring a triple driver design, impressive 12mm dynamic drivers, and incredible audio clarity, the Pro X works diligently to produce high-quality audio and a distinctive profile. With an array of impressive hardware specs and features, there is a lot to be impressed by with the Status Pro X. Is it enough, however, to compete with some of the other brands in its price bracket?
Sporting a sleek, ergonomic design, the Status Pro X are built for comfort, longevity, and durability. Rated for IP55 water and dust resistance and equipped with an 8-hour battery, the Pro X can keep pace with your daily life. For those needing a bit extra, the included charging case boosts that run time up to 24 hours before needing to find a wall outlet for charging. For those who prefer the convenience of wireless charging, I was impressed to find that the Pro X supports Qi Wireless charging as well. A feature I’ve not seen on many earbuds.
As for comfort, after three weeks of wear, I have found them to be more comfortable than the Sennheiser ACCENTUM True Wireless, also feeling more secure when in place as well. Even with all-day wear, thanks to the aforementioned battery life, the earbuds still feel quite comfortable.

While fatigue does typically set in with any earbud after prolonged hours of use, my experience with Status’s latest earbuds has been comparatively more comfortable than with many of the earbuds I’ve tested over the past year. To further accommodate users, Pro X Status has also included two additional size eartips that can easily be swapped to accommodate your preferences.
The build quality and feature list are what I would expect to find for a $300 pair of earbuds as well. Each earbud houses a capacitive touch surface along the face and a single push button on the top, which provides an impressive amount of user control over your listening experience. Each is programmable as well, allowing for full customization of the interface experience.
“The audio experience of the Pro X, though, is where Status has really pulled out all the stops.”
Examining the Pro X closer reveals small optical wearing sensors on each earbud. These sensors can detect when the earbuds are in your ear and automatically pause audio when removed. While this feature is present on many earbuds, I’ve found Status’s usage here to be much more intuitive in registering when to keep playing or pausing the music.

For example, often I will take an earbud out to ask a question for a colleague, which naturally pauses the music. Often, I will hit play with one earbud in to continue having music playing in one earbud because life is better with a soundtrack. I’ve often found with other optical wearing sensors that when I put the second earbud back in while music is playing that it once again pauses the music, forgetting it wasn’t in my ear. This hasn’t been the case with the Pro X; every time it tracks which state it is in and responds accordingly.
It’s this attention to detail that impresses me with the feature set of the Pro X. While other earbuds have similar features, such as the aforementioned Optical Wearing sensor, Status has worked to improve the concept, and it shows in a better overall user experience. Instead of settling for the standards, Status has worked to refine each aspect of their earbuds.
The Hybrid ANC is another such feature that feels refined in the Pro X. With over 52 dB of noise reduction, Status has simply taken what everyone else has done and pushed it noticeably further. In the case of these earbuds, the ANC is superb, rivalling even some of my favourite ANC headphones.

The audio experience of the Pro X, though, is where Status has really pulled out all the stops. Featuring a three-driver system, a 12mm main driver supported by two Balanced Marature drivers from Knowles, the Pro X sounds absolutely delightful in testing. Frequency tests revealed no notable noise across the audible bands, and clarity tests were superb. While there is full customization of the EQ thanks to Status’s in-house Hub app, the default audio profile provides a balanced audio listening experience.
The lows offer a punchy fill without overwhelming the mix, while the mids are well-rounded and fill out the mix well. The high end is incredibly crisp and clear, and representative of the source without being too bright. It simply sounds excellent on all fronts, providing a delightful listening experience. Thanks to the inclusion of the LDAC codec and Bluetooth LE Audio support, the Pro X are set up to handle Hi-Res audio streaming. In testing, it works seamlessly.
“…Status has worked to refine each element of the Pro X to offer a superb set of earbuds that stand out against the competition.”
Another standout feature that did incredibly well in testing is audio calling. While it is often overlooked, the Pro X has actually doubled down on creating a clean call experience. Leveraging VoiceLoom AI Speech processing, the Pro X actively filters out background noise during a call. Thanks to 6 built-in microphones, which also help create the impressive ANC experience mentioned above, the overall call quality was noticeably better in testing than the other three pairs of earbuds used.

For those of us who often set our earbuds down and forget where we put them, Status has also included a FindMy feature. Leveraging GPS tracking, the earbuds can be pinged via the Status Hub App and will make an audible noise to help you remember that you set them on the counter when making your fifth cup of coffee this morning. It’s a small quality-of-life feature that is greatly appreciated.
Finally, a couple of quick notes on the Status Hub App. While the Pro X can be a ‘Plug and play’ experience by simply connecting it to up to two devices, the Status Hub is where all the fun features can be fully explored and leveraged. The layout is easy to navigate and use, offering everything needed to maximize your usage of the Pro X.
The Pro X from Status are one of the most impressive earbuds I’ve worked with. While I’ve tested a lot of stellar earbuds over the past few years, Status has worked to refine each element of the Pro X to offer a superb set of earbuds that stand out against the competition. No matter the genre, the Pro X easily adapt and produces an excellent listening experience for the user. If you are in the market for a premium-level audio listening experience in a compact form factor, the Pro X from Status are worth considering.
