A 12V/24V 10A car charger is also available, and while it is considerably slower, it’s an excellent option for long trips. Finally, the FlashSpeed 1000 offers a solar charging option.
This final option is particularly impressive, thanks to the four-panel VS400 solar panel system. The collapsible system can be fully expanded and is self-standing, making it ideal for camping or emergencies. Charging times can vary depending on weather conditions, but during testing, I was able to charge the FlashSpeed from 0 to 100 percent in just under five hours.
In terms of build and design, the FlashSpeed 1000 Portable Power Station Bundle is well-designed overall. The base unit features two carrying handles, which are greatly appreciated given its 37-pound weight. It also includes a convenient storage drawer located on the top of the unit, which easily stores all the included cables. This is a welcome addition compared to some other power stations we’ve tested, which required storing cables separately from the unit.
Examining the back of the unit reveals an LED light strip with three modes of operation. Low and high settings offer varying degrees of light, ideal for overnight camping or power outages at home. The third mode provides an SOS flashing signal light, which is essential in emergency situations. The design and construction are both well executed.

The unit stacks neatly with the base unit, and the included cable fits easily into the aforementioned storage drawer when not in use.
The VS400 solar panel system offers a relatively compact solution for solar charging. When fully expanded, the VS400 measures 95 by 41.8 inches, creating an impressive-looking solar panel. A kickstand allows the system to be angled and positioned with relative ease. A small pouch attached to the back of one of the panels provides an additional cable storage option if needed.

When not in use, the VS400 can be collapsed and folded onto itself, reducing the measurements to a compact 25.6 by 41.8 inches and only 1.75 inches thick. It fits well in most trunks, and thanks to its durable and waterproof (IP67) exterior, leaving the panels out in the rain is not a concern. The entire system is thoughtfully designed, offering a compact and powerful solution.
As for performance, I was impressed with the overall output and functionality of the entire system. During productivity testing, I had no issue running my laptop with continuous power from the FlashSpeed for a full week of work, with battery life to spare. Similarly, the FlashSpeed 1000 easily powered an oscillating fan in my office for several hours. Charging electronics such as my phone, tablet and watch was handled seamlessly. Although I didn’t test it this many times, VTOMAN’s spec sheet rates the FlashSpeed 1000 for 74 charges of an iPhone, which should be more than enough to get through a week of phone usage.
Even running more power-hungry devices, such as my Breville espresso machine, was managed easily—although these appliances did cause a significantly more aggressive power draw on the battery. However, with the included second battery, I was able to make several cups of coffee over a few days before needing to recharge.

Having the second battery is a game changer. With a larger capacity than the base unit, it more than doubles the system’s lifespan before needing a recharge. It connects easily to the main battery and charges in tandem with the FlashSpeed when plugged in—no additional outlets required.
My only real critique is that occasionally, when the fans kick in, the FlashSpeed 1000 can get notably loud. Fortunately, this doesn’t happen often. During testing, it mainly occurred when I first turned it on or when there was a sudden aggressive power draw on the system. For regular daily use, however, it remains a relatively quiet system.
When not used as a portable power station, the VTOMAN FlashSpeed 1000 Portable Power Station can also function as a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) for your PC. It provides uninterrupted power during outages, thanks to its sub-20ms switchover capabilities.
