YEEDI S16 Plus

Brutalist Review Style (Version 2)

YEEDI has surprised our editors with the level of quality and features it delivers at very attractive price points, and the company is once again looking to push limits with the YEEDI S16 Plus. This new flagship-level vacuum brings everything you could want in a sleek, well-priced package.

This compact robot vacuum offers a range of features for its cost, including automated home cleaning, powerful suction, a self-maintaining mopping system and app-driven intelligence typically reserved for premium-class robotics. With more competition than ever in the robot vacuum market, the YEEDI S16 Plus delivers outstanding value and provides one of the best cleaning experiences available at this price point.

Out of the box, the YEEDI S16 Plus delivers a strong first impression. It carries forward the familiar design philosophy seen in earlier YEEDI models while presenting a modern, sleek look. The vacuum’s low profile and glossy surfaces allow it to blend seamlessly into home environments. When in standby mode, it avoids drawing attention and settles unobtrusively into the background.

Setup is straightforward. The robot connects to the YEEDI app within minutes and begins an automatic mapping routine that efficiently charts each room without fuss or repeated intervention. YEEDI appears to have streamlined the process to reduce barriers for less tech-savvy users, while still providing customization for those who want precision. Having tested a range of robot vacuums over the years, I found this one of the easiest setups yet, with the full process taking no more than 10 to 15 minutes.

While design has its appeal, delivering a strong cleaning performance is far more important—and the YEEDI S16 Plus does not compromise in this regard. YEEDI equips the unit with impressive specifications, the standout being its signature BLAST Airflow Suction system, which is rated at 16,600 Pa of suction power. That figure is striking, even compared with flagship competitors.

“…the company is once again looking to push limits with the YEEDI S16 Plus.”

The vacuum’s aerodynamic ductwork and 100-watt high-torque motor contribute to what YEEDI describes as “powerful, precise and quiet cleaning.” Each fan blade is angled at 45 degrees in an Archimedean spiral to optimize debris collection. These technical claims are not just marketing spin: real-world tests show the S16 Plus picking up dust nearly twice as quickly as conventional models, while applying up to 16 times more mopping pressure. The result is more thorough cleaning on hard floors and fewer missed spots.

Yeedi S16 Plus Review

Using the YEEDI S16 Plus in the CGMagazine offices, I was impressed by how well it cleaned. Robot vacuums are often about compromise: they are easy to use, simple to set up and can be automated, but they usually miss spots and struggle to cover the areas that need attention. That was not the case here. When I started the S16 Plus on a cleaning cycle, it systematically covered the room. Once finished, the difference was clear, with the area left clean and the hard floors well-washed.

Part of the YEEDI S16 Plus’s strong cleaning performance comes from its OZMO Roller Instant Self-Washing Mopping Technology. Borrowed from innovations in higher-end Ecovacs models, the system automatically rinses the mop head during operation, preventing surfaces from becoming streaked or coated with grime.

After each run, the vacuum returns to its base, where the dock empties the dustbin and cleans and dries the mop. This keeps maintenance to a minimum, one of the model’s key advantages. Households with pets, children or high-traffic living spaces will appreciate its mopping performance, which, according to testers, remained impressively streak-free even after repeated cycles.

The all-in-one Omni docking station is a strong concept, though it could benefit from refinements in future versions of the vacuum. It supports automatic water refilling, high-temperature mop washing and drying, and detergent dispensing. YEEDI promotes “up to 150 days of silence” between maintenance cycles, but in practice, that claim appears overly optimistic.

While the convenience of reduced upkeep is real, the 2.2-litre dirty water tank fills quickly, requiring more frequent attention than expected in busy households. The station’s cleaning cycle is also surprisingly loud, often disruptive during calls or quiet afternoons, especially when the vacuum is placed near a workspace. Prospective buyers should be prepared for brief but noticeable spikes in noise during the mop-washing process. It is not overwhelming, but it is enough to be distracting.

Navigation, powered by dToF LiDAR and YEEDI’s AI-driven obstacle avoidance, works reliably to map rooms and steer around obstacles such as cables and furniture legs. Features like multi-level mapping, no-go zones and detailed scheduling give users nuanced control. However, the app occasionally shows translation errors and minor interface quirks.

In testing, I encountered cases where the app failed to download the required module for the vacuum, forcing a reinstall before everything functioned properly. It was not a major problem—the vacuum continued to run—but it limited access to granular controls and made adjusting settings difficult. Fortunately, voice compatibility is robust, with seamless integration through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for hands-free operation.

For households dealing with pet hair, YEEDI’s ZeroTangle 3.0 system is a welcome feature. Its new V-shaped brush design and triple-lift mechanism reduce the likelihood of hair becoming tangled, making regular brush cleaning an uncommon task. According to users, tangles are now far less of an issue, usually requiring only a few minutes to clear. Only stray objects—such as a cotton swab—tend to cause interruptions that require opening the compartment.

While we do not have pets in the CGMagazine offices, my own experience required intervention only once, to remove a large zip tie. Considering the amount of debris this vacuum collects daily, that is an impressive result.

Yeedi S16 Plus Review

When compared directly with rivals in its price category, the YEEDI S16 Plus delivers on nearly all its promises. It provides excellent suction and mopping results on hard floors, handles edge cleaning efficiently with TrueEdge 2.0, and maintains a low operational profile that blends into daily life—until the dock activates and interrupts the quiet.

Carpet performance is solid, though it does not surpass the very best, with the Narwal Freo Z Ultra still holding that crown. Thicker carpets may cause the robot to slow and occasionally miss embedded debris, but flat and low-pile surfaces are cleaned with consistent thoroughness. It also transitions seamlessly between carpet and hard flooring, and in testing, it never attempted to mop a carpet.

Ultimately, the YEEDI S16 Plus offers a strong proposition for anyone seeking a mostly hands-off cleaning solution with solid technological credentials. For households with extensive hard flooring, a need for frequent mopping and a willingness to tolerate some operational noise in exchange for automation, it stands out as a confident alternative to more established players.

Yeedi S16 Plus Review

It is not without quirks—the loud Omni station, occasional self-cleaning interruptions and a few app frustrations—but those compromises are offset by a robot that genuinely “lets you relax and take a deep breath” while keeping living spaces consistently clean. For those whose needs align with its mix of advanced cleaning and ease of use, the S16 Plus is well worth considering as part of the new generation of automated helpers.
