EA Sports gave us a preview of the latest installment in their popular racing series, EA Sports F1 25, yesterday, and there were a lot of new things to go over. With updated features across the board, we’re going to focus specifically on one major update in the game, and that’s the overhauled My Team mode, which gives you incredible control over your team in ways you’ve never been able to before.
My Team 2.0 in F1 25 is a huge reimagination of the owner system, with you now focused on being the owner of two cars and managing two drivers on your team. As a team owner rather than an owner/driver, as seen in previous versions, the stakes of your decisions are higher than ever, having to choose who to favour among two drivers who, despite being on the same team, are still each other’s competitors. These choices will also earn you XP, which is put to use in a new owner perks system that lets your character specialize in certain aspects of managing your team.

Your team will receive a fan rating based on accomplishments that you make in career mode, including completing accolades brought back from F1 24, and team rivalries, an updated version of the rivalry system found in previous games. Team sentiment will be a modifier on your fan rating, as your team’s standing in the league and its history may alter how fans see you. A once-great team that has fallen on hard times or a newer team that is climbing to the top may have fans looking at them in a whole new way.
“Team HQ will be another huge update in F1 25, with the scale of your team being raised dramatically.”
These ratings will have a direct impact on how you develop your team throughout the career mode in F1 25, as will the new contract system because it’s not just about how the fans see you, but how the drivers see you as well. This perception of your team by the drivers in your game will be just as impactful on your team’s career, including what drivers you’ll be able to sign.
Team HQ will be another huge update in F1 25, with the scale of your team being raised dramatically. Your team’s success and the choices you make will help determine the size of your Headquarters, the amount of people on your payroll and how much they can do between race weekends. You’ll be able to really focus on the smaller details of your team rather than paint with broad strokes, allowing you a much more unique management experience each time you play a career.

Research and development in F1 25 will be separated into two systems. So, while researching allows you to make more parts for your cars, when and how many you build and which drivers they go to is now completely up to you. Choosing to give one driver the best parts to give them a needed advantage during the season will affect your relationships, not only with the driver you gave the parts to but also with the one you didn’t. All of this will come back to you when it’s time to sign new contracts.
There are consequences to every decision you make, however, in EA Sports F1 25. A larger facility means more workers, faster development and an overall more productive HQ, but that comes with a more hefty price tag, so balancing the efficiency of your facilities with cost will have to be top of mind, especially in those early seasons. With all these choices and their stakes, your Facility Head, a character in your game, will guide you through the system and how it works, as well as give you much-needed information based on what you’ve got set up. You have an advisor. I suggest you hear them out.

The sponsorship system in F1 25 has also seen an upgrade with Sponsor loyalty playing into the game. A good relationship with a sponsor can lead to more money, more XP or a number of other benefits that can vary depending on the length of the relationship, who the sponsor is and what that company’s core beliefs may be.

In both My Team and Driver Career modes, they’ve made some other changes. Among those changes in F1 25 is the ability for AI teams to recruit Driver Icons, literally raising the level of competition you can face across the board. What Driver Icons you use in the game is up to you. With a wide variety of Driver Icons, spreading across multiple organizations. You can choose not to let F3 drivers be a part of the Driver Icon system or all non-F1 drivers. Who is available to all teams (including yours, so choose wisely) is completely customizable.
EA Sports F1 25 will be released in late May, with the Iconic Edition featuring Lewis Hamilton on the cover, releasing on May 27, and the Standard Edition coming on May 30. The game will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Get ready for a robust game that is a sizable leap from previous versions, and prepare for a detailed management experience.
