11 bit studios has announced that The Alters will be released on June 13, taking survival to the next level.
The creators of This War of Mine, Frostpunk and Anomaly, 11 bit studios, are launching The Alters on June 13, a sci-fi survival game about Jan Dolski escaping a hostile planet by creating alternate versions of himself to cook, research, mine for resources and more as you explore the environment. However, your choices can impact everyone on board, and danger looms as you wander the planet.
Stepping into The Alters, Jan Dolski embarks on a quest to escape a hostile planet by creating alternate versions of himself using a substance called Rapidum. Each version of Jan has unique skills, personalities and memories tied to your choices. They are also filled with conflict, doubt and a troubled past. As you manage your alters, players must maintain a mobile base, make crucial decisions, build relationships with their alters, and deal with unresolved issues from past lives.
With only days left to escape the planet, players must explore and gather resources to craft items to expand the base, equip their alters, or build tools for exploration. But wandering the environment won’t be easy. Although levitating rocks and distortions of reality may be easy to spot, players will sometimes need to use special tools to avoid instant death, radiation poisoning and the dangers of time and space. Alongside the many threats that lurk on the planet, time must be used wisely. Radiation spikes at night, becoming too hazardous for both the player and the suit to handle.
11 bit studios shared the news about The Alters during the Triple-I Initiative 2025 showcase. Established in 2024, the Triple-I Initiative aims to highlight upcoming games from independent developers, covering many genres, from calming simulators to action-packed sci-fi titles.
The Alters will launch on June 13 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Game Pass, and PC via Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store.
