Sony Pictures has dropped the next trailer for the upcoming zombie-filled sequel, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, and it puts two survivors face-to-face at last.

Zombie film fans have gotten Christmas early this season, as Sony Pictures has uncorked the second trailer for the upcoming 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple today, and after the first trailer was mostly light on plot points, the second trailer features a desperate Dr. Kelson (played by Ralph Fiennes) still searching for an answer for the infection, a tense meeting between Kelson and Jimmy Crystal (played by Jack O’Connell) and a potential cure for the Alpha, Sampson (played by Chi Lewis-Parry). The new trailer can be seen below.

The events of 28 Years Later have left fans on the edge of a cliff, with Spike (Alfie Williams) deciding to leave his family (and the safe village provided by them) to explore the world, only to run into the sociopathic Jimmy Crystal and his gang of bad actors. Dr. Kelson, on the other hand, came to terms with death directly and offered a fitting skull tribute to The Bone Temple, setting the stage for this bloody sequel.

In the new trailer, Dr. Kelson is embroiled in research on the deadly nature of the Rage virus (with intriguing snapshots of his pre-apocalypse life), while Sir Jimmy and his gang search for “souls to deliver to hell.” Spike, (who joined up with Jimmy’s gang at the conclusion of the previous film) watches the gang in terror.

While series mainstay Cillian Murphy is billed as Executive Producer for 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, he hasn’t appeared in the previous entry, and he has made no appearance in either trailer despite confirming in August 2025 he will be reprising his role as Jim in the film.

Fans only have to wait just over a month to find out, as 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple lands in theatres on January 16, 2026.
