A lot of video games celebrate Halloween in-game, and this October 31st CGMagazine has located a few in-game Halloween Events for fans to check out.
Each year provides new scares for video game fans of any genre, and with those scares, come in-game celebrations for fans who play on the spookiest day of the year. Sadly, some annual events haven’t continued this year (looking at the 2x XP and Pumpkin heads from Gears of War 4) but although some titles aren’t celebrating this year, there are still plenty of Halloween events to dive into to get fans into the Halloween spirit.
Listed below are some special Halloween events that are on the menu for this year, whether fans missed a certain weapon drop last year in Destiny 2 Season of the Lost (which is happening again this year!), there’s a lot more to celebrate in the following in-game events developers have unleashed on fans for Halloween (some of which have only just started on Tuesday, October 29).
Halloween Events To Wreak Havoc In-game for 2024
Diablo IV Halloween Celebration
In case fans have missed it, Diablo IV is currently celebrating the spooky season in-game by giving fans who log in daily exclusive horse gear. While two of the rewards have passed, fans can still log in and claim some wicked-looking horse armour, and a creepy spider trophy to mount on a horse as well as the missed cosmetics until November 5.
The macabre celebration continues with an in-game event Blizzard is all too keen to call “Meat or Treat”. During the celebration (which ends on November 5), any Shrine in a Dungeon can apply a surprise effect in addition to its usual effect when activated. So fans will have to think about whether the character nerf is worth it before they activate any shrines.
All Saints’ Wake 2024 – FINAL FANTASY XIV Halloween Event
All Saints’ Wake 2024 brings almost exactly what the other yearly events have contained, a transformation of the Eorzea world with Halloween decorations, and seasonal activities. From this posting, fans only have just under a week to engage in the Halloween event festivities before waiting until it comes around again next year.
The return of the iconic Haunted Manor and Phantoms’ Feast locations marks the start of the returning event, and players can head to Old Gridania to meet up with a Pumpkin-Headed Apparition (located at coordinates X:10.2, Y:9.4.) kickstarting the quest called The Aether-starved Ahriman. To join in on the Halloween festivities, characters will need to be at least level 15 to embark on the quest, and will have until November 4 to finish. Players will be able to earn the Night of Devilry Attire, the main draw of this year’s festivities.
Halo Infinite Launches Haloween 2024!
Also known as Operation: Halloween, Halo Infinite is adding a new playlist called Survive the Undead for this year’s “Haloween” celebration, which pits a team of players against waves of the undead, tasking them with surviving for as long as possible. The operation arrives with a free 20-tier Operation Pass, allowing fans to earn a new themed armour set known as Spartanstein, and engage in fun game modes on the new maps added for the occasion: Countdown of the Dead, Night of the Dead, and Installation of the Undead. The festivities run until November 5, so fans can jump in and fight back the night today.
Fortnite releases Fortnitemares for 2024
It wouldn’t be a Halloween celebration without an in-game Fortnitemares 2024 Halloween event. This year’s festivities bring the explosive Boom Billy battleground, a rideable chainsaw, the return of Horde Rush, and oodles of Quest treats like the Jack-o’-Drifter Contrail and Great Scarecrow Glider to earn.
Fortnitemares 2024 brings Jigsaw’s Challenge from the iconic Saw horror franchise to Battle Island, and two players will don a Billy-inspired bear mask laced with explosives. If the player’s squad doesn’t eliminate the target in time, the mask will explode and the player will be eliminated from contention. If the player’s squad does eliminate the target in time, the player’s squad will be rewarded with a Boom Billy, the unvaulted Witch Broom, and other exciting loot. Fortnitemares 2024 runs until the end of Chapter 5 Season 4, on November 2.
That just about wraps up some of the biggest in-game Halloween events players can partake in. While Dead by Daylight is also running its own annual Haunted by Daylight 2024 Halloween event, fans can also get their Halloween fix by tuning in to the RetroRealms double feature and diving into classic side-scrolling action filled with bloody action to join the festivities before the last treat is handed out. Fans can also check out this list of objectively good horror titles to get some scares for the Holiday.
