Activision Announces New AAA Studio, Elsewhere Entertainment

A New Studio Rises

Activision is in the news again this week, as the company has revealed the formation of a new AAA development studio, Elsewhere Entertainment, tasked with creating a next-gen experience.

The new Elsewhere Entertainment AAA studio is headquartered in Warsaw, Poland, and the studio will be tasked with “creating a new narrative-based and genre-defining AAA franchise” built from the ground up. Interestingly enough, the company doesn’t appear to have an official logo yet, and its current tagline is a vague definition of the word elsewhere from the Cambridge University Press, “at, in, from, or to another place or other places; anywhere or somewhere else.” Activision is billing Elsewhere Entertainment as “a premier and standalone studio dedicated to establishing an environment that inspires bold and diverse ideas.”

The new Activision studio is said to have “a collection of storytelling experts whose credits include The Last of Us, Uncharted, The Witcher, Cyberpunk, Destiny, Tom Clancy’s The Division, and Far Cry.” Aside from the formation announcement and the vague credits for the unnamed staff at Elsewhere Entertainment, nothing else has been said about the studio or what they’re working on.

Activision has had a busy 2024. Nearly halfway into the year, rumours of Call of Duty coming to Xbox Game Pass, the new Diablo IV: Loot Reborn season four has kicked off, and they’ve been slammed with a massive lawsuit regarding esports monopolization. In a gaming industry landscape that continues to announce layoffs almost weekly, it’s worth mentioning that while Microsoft has closed the multi-billion dollar purchase of Activision Blizzard, the company just shuttered multiple studios, including Tango Gameworks last week before the new studio announcement.

Fans interested in more information regarding the new studio can head to the official Elsewhere Entertainment announcement page to check out the rest of the scarce details.
