AMC's Preacher Gets a Pilot Date

Fans of the comic series Preacher have a date to set on their calendars. AMC announced today the pilot airs on Sun. May 29, 2016, following the mid-season finale of Fear the Walking Dead at 10 p.m. E.T.

The show will occupy the Sunday 9 p.m. E.T time slot normally when it begins its regular schedule on June 5 2016.

“We’re thrilled to finally be sharing this epic story with characters unlike any other on television,” said, president of original programming and development for AMC and SundanceTV, Joel Stillerman in a press release.

The ten episode season is based off the comic of the same name by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon and follows a West Texas preacher who gains supernatural abilities as he, his ex-girlfriend and an Irish drifter discover the world full of people from other realms.  With Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg along with James Weaver are executive producers on the series, so we know it will be good for a few laughs. While Sam Catlin, who worked on Breaking Bad, is at the helm as showrunner, executive producer, and writer.

“Sam Catlin, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have brought Garth’s writing and Steve’s artistry to life in the most gratifying way possible.  Fans of the comic book and fans of just great television have a lot to look forward to as they’ll travel on an unforgettable journey and watch in unison as the craziness unfolds,” says Stillerman.
