New Villagers Have Arrived In Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Update 3.0, Here's Which amiibo Unlock Them

Animal Crossing: New Horizons surprisingly dropped update 3.0 last week, to the surprise and excitement of fans, and Nintendo has released a guide on which amiibo unlock which new villagers included in the update.

Last week, Nintendo announced version 3.0 of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, adding a wealth of new content and new villagers to the game. This was to coincide with The Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition version of the game being announced, with Nintendo detailing quality of life updates (for both versions of the game), higher resolution visuals, and even a new hotel resort run by Kapp’n’s family with themed items.

Another addition to the islands of New Horizons is the ability to recruit four new villagers to player islands. As briefly shown in the update trailer below, four new villagers can move into your island, and they require amiibo usage to pack their bags and move in.

The four new villagers are: Mineru, Tulin, Cece, and Viché, and their design appears to be influenced by the amiibo (and Nintendo franchises) that bring them into the game. Mineru has a Midna-inspired design from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, with Cece and Viché appearing to have moved in from Splatoon 3‘s Splatsville (sporting the eye shadow of Inklings). Below, the compatible The Legend of Zelda series amiibo and Splatoon amiibo are listed (courtesy of Nintendo), showing which figure unlocks which villager in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Fans should note that to use amiibo in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, they will have to unlock the Campground first. To build the Campground, fans need to have upgraded the Resident Services Tent into a the Town Hall. Then, fans will need to build the Campground Construction Kit and place the kit in an area suitable for a campground. After the campground is placed, villagers can interact with Resident Services (located at the Nook Stop terminal) and select amiibo to scan a figure.
