The Standout Games of E3 2018

With E3 2018 all wrapped up, here are all the games announced during the 4-day event, starting with a look at some of the bigger, standout titles that took the show.

Capcom took this year’s E3 to show off both Devil May Cry 5 and the Resident Evil 2 Remake, which both, unfortunately, got leaked prior the show, however, that did not stop either from making a huge splash during the show.

Fan’s of Hideo Kojima, finally got to see a bit more of Death Stranding, with E3 2018 setting the stage for an impressive 8-minute demo, which even more impressively managed to create more questions than answers.

Microsoft had an especially strong showing this year with titles such as Halo and Gears making a big splash at their press conference, with Gears of War, in particular, getting a lot of love with 3 titles upcoming games announced during the show.

Those anticipating Kingdom Hearts III got two meaty trailers from both the Microsoft and Sony press conference. Audiences were treated to a look at the return of the Pirates of the Caribbean world in addition to a smaller look into Frozen, Monsters, Inc, Tangled, and other worlds.

Sony really went out all out in terms of giving audiences an extended look at some of their upcoming games, including The Last of Us 2, which finally got a gameplay reveal.

Ghost of Tsushima was another stand-out title on display during Sony’s show, finally giving viewers a glimpse into Suckerpunch’s latest post-Infamous property.

Spider-Man was shown in-length, with viewers finally getting a look at some of the other big bads that will be in the title, including the likes of Rhino, Electro and Scorpion, amongst others.

Smash Brothers for the Nintendo Switch was Nintendo’s prime focus during Nintendo’s E3 2018. The title will be coming in December and will be called Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, additionally, the game will feature every character that has been playable in all previous iterations of the beloved fighting game.

Bethesda aside from a few self-deprecating jokes about Skyrim and Walmart Canada, announced several big titles include a sequel to 2016’s Doom, titled Doom Eternal and Rage 2.

By far, the biggest announcement out of Bethesda during E3 2018 came in the form of a teaser trailer for the Elder Scrolls 6, which didn’t show much of anything, in terms of actual gameplay but the fact that it is actually development is huge, as Skyrim has been out since 2011.

Fans of the Witcher and CD Projekt Red got a brand-new in-engine trailer for their highly anticipated sci-fi debut, Cyberpunk 2077. The title seemingly borrows the best elements of sci-fi works such as Bladerunner, Mass Effect and even Akira, while infusing their own unique take on the future.

Speaking of Mass Effect, EA and Bioware gave audiences an extended gameplay demo for Anthem, focusing on the various classes available within the game.

Ubisoft didn’t let Walmart Canada’s leak stand in the way of an impressive and official showing of the latest Assassin’s Creed title, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. As suspected via the leak, the game will take players to Ancient Greece, giving the option to play two separate campaigns with unique characters.

Ubisoft and Nintendo’s love affair seems to only be blossoming, as evident with the inclusion of Fox McCloud from the renowned Starfox series, making a cameo as a playable character in the upcoming Starlink: Battle Arena, toys-to-life game.

Although not too much was shown off regarding Beyond Good & Evil 2, Ubisoft did announce a new partnership with famed actor, Joseph Gordon and his incubator company, Hit RECord.
