BlackBerry and TCL Communications Announce the BlackBerry KEY2LE 1

Today, TCL Communications announced the latest addition to the BlackBerry Key series of smartphones, with the BlackBerry KEY2 LE.

The just-announced BlackBerry KEY2 LE will be available in three colours, Slate, Champagne and Atomic. The device itself will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, a powerful battery that BlackBerry promises will last up to 22 hours of use, with support for Quick Charge 3.0. Additionally, the KEY2 LE will feature Boost Mode, which means the smartphone will track user habits and remind them when best to charge their device, in order to ensure longevity and optimal usage.

Other features include, an enhanced privacy control with the BlackBerry KEY2 LE giving users access to Locker, a feature that allows only certain information to be shared with the cloud, in addition Mozilla’s Firefox Focus, a more streamlined and security oriented version of the Firefox web browser.  And finally, a new and improved version of BlackBerry’s DTEK application, BlackBerry’s own security software, that ensures a worry free environment, especially for user’s that may have sensitive work data on their devices.

“Today’s smartphones try to offer a one size fits all solution, but that is no longer realistic when we
have a global marketplace as diverse as we have today,” said Alain Lejeune, Senior Vice President,
TCL Communication & President, BlackBerry Mobile. “But this is why we focus on making modern BlackBerry smartphones like KEY2 LE, to stand out and deliver a great experience for everyday communication, with access to all the features, connectivity and applications our customers expect.”

“The BlackBerry KEY2 LE brings a fresh new personality to TCL Communication’s BlackBerry
KEY2 portfolio that includes all the security features that make BlackBerry phones the
world’s most secure Android™ smartphones,” said Alex Thurber, Senior Vice President and
General Manager of Mobility Solutions at BlackBerry. “With this new addition to their
product lineup, the KEY2 LE keeps the iconic BlackBerry styling while offering an accessible
entry point for our fans around the world to enjoy a modern BlackBerry smartphone.”

The BlackBerry KEY2 LE will be available in Canada for a retail price of $519 CAD for the 32GB variant and $599 CAD for the 64GB iteration.
