During the convention, Blizzard will give attendees a full lineup of panels, exclusive event loot, product news, and talent signings.
One highlight that’s part of their current schedule is the Behind the Cards panel featuring the art of Hearthstone. It’s planned to take place on July 19, and and the panelists include art director Ben Thompson, senior FX artist Hadidjah Chamberlain, senior concept artist Jomaro Kindred, and illustrator Matt Dixon. The panel will detail artwork of The Boomsday Project, and how the team went from concept sketches to the final card art.
Meanwhile, some behind the scenes information featuring Overwatch’s newest hero, Wrecking Ball, is scheduled to be revealed on July 20. Lead writer Michael Chu and lead hero designer Geoff Goodman, along with assistant art director Arnold Tsang and senior sound designer Geoffrey Garnett will be presenting this panel. Audience members will also be able to participate in a Q&A session with the team afterwards.
Christie Golden, the author of World of Warcraft novels that range from Before the Storm and War Crimes to old favourites like Lord of the Clans and Rise of the Horde will also be joining in on a panel discussion, and later a book signing. Along with Jody Houser, Mark Evanier, and Steve Danuser as other panelists, Golden will talk about how they bring the stories of Blizzard’s universes to life. The panel is scheduled to take place on July 21, and Golden’s book signing will happen about half an hour afterwards.
As for loot, San Diego Comic-Con attendees will be able to purchase a bunch of Overwatch and World of Warcraft items from Blizzard’s booth. These include Cute But Deadly figures of D.Va with her MEKA, Sylvanas, Anduin, and Twilight Orisa, as well as Overwatch’s own Goldimari Mini Plush, and Roadhog and Junkrat Funko POP! Vinyl figures. Overwatch lovers would also be able to purchase artwork of Blizzard World.
Other activities include the Overwatch Payload Tour, where attendees can step onto a rotating stage, and a photo opportunity with Henchmen Studios.
For fans of Blizzard franchises, this year’s San Diego Comic-Con is the place to be, especially with such a great lineup of content and activities.
