The Blood of Dawnwalker Is Getting a New Game Plus Mode

In ironically pretty much the same sequence of events as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the new vampire RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker, will officially be getting a New Game Plus option.

During a stream with PlayStation Poland, game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz confirmed that Dawnwalker will indeed get a New Game Plus mode, but wouldn’t share any more details beyond a vague confirmation that it’s in the works. So, unfortunately, that means we don’t have any kind of time frame on the update or what it could include. But New Game Plus is a particularly interesting feature for Dawnwalker, because of the way the game’s time system works.

After the opening of Dawnwalker, you’re given 30 days and 30 nights to save your family. Time passes when you take actions in quests or invest in new skills for the game’s hero, Coen. What that means is that you’re essentially limited in how much you can do, and thereby how much you’re able to strengthen Coen and build a resistance against the vampiric Brencis.

But going into the start of the game with an already souped up Coen seems like it would alter the entire experience, and I have to imagine Rebel Wolves will take steps to alter the way the feature usually works. This does mean, however, that you might have a much easier time taking down Brencis at the start of the game, and seeing some of the harder to uncover story threads.

The Blood of Dawnwalker has been a big hit for Rebel Wolves since its launch in early September. The first game from the studio made up of veterans that worked on the Witcher 3, Dawnwalker has sold over a million copies, with Rebel Wolves announcing it’s already hiring for the next game. In our own review we called it one of the best games of the year, saying “The Blood of Dawnwalker is a game that lays its ambitions bare at the beginning, and one-by-one pays off all those ambitions in remarkable ways. It’s a game that grips you early on, and sinks its teeth into you more with every passing hour.”

The Blood of Dawnwalker is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
