Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake has released Patch 1.04, addressing several gameplay bugs.
It’s not uncommon for new games to launch with major bugs, making the experience either amusingly janky or frustratingly unplayable. Fortunately, dedicated developers like Bloober Team are quick to address these issues. Today, they officially released Patch 1.04 for the Silent Hill 2 remake, tackling some of the major problems in the survival horror game and fixing various technical issues.
The patch notes outlined several changes made to the Silent Hill 2 remake, including fixes for some amusing bugs. For instance, protagonist James would teleport through a peephole in the Brookhaven Hospital area or get stuck in a window near Neely’s Bar. Another bug involved a wooden plank appearing during James’ death animation. The patch also includes improvements to the “deformation of Nurses’ skirts.”
On the technical side, Bloober Team reduced visual glitches when using the latest version of Nvidia DLSS, added an option to enable DLSS frame generation in the menu when using DLSS for supersampling, and added support for AMD FSR 3.1.1. James is now looking a little smoother than he appeared in the trailers. Additionally, Steam Deck players should notice improvements in the game’s overall performance and optimization.

Bloober Team and publisher Konami released the Silent Hill 2 remake on October 8th, which was met with raving success from fans, as well as financially. The survival-exploration horror game has already sold over 1 million copies across both physical and digital media. CGMagazine’s own Editor-in-Chief Brendan Frye gave the game a 9/10 in his review, noting, “This is Silent Hill 2, as you remember it, but better in nearly every way.” While fans have expressed their excitement for Bloober to do more Silent Hill games, the team has already stated that their efforts are focused on its sci-fi survival horror game Cronos: The New Dawn.
