Bungie and Netease Announce New Partnership

Destiny 2 Review In Progress - Welcome Back Guardian

China’s leading internet and online gaming service provider, Netease and Bungie, the AAA studio responsible for creating the legendary Halo series and more recently, the Destiny franchise, will be forming a new partnership.

The new partnership is meant to foster the incubation of creativity and passion when designing future projects. Netease’s stake within Bungie is a minority stake, meaning Bungie will continue to work independently with Activision, reporting to the same shareholders and board of directors as prior to the new engagement with Netease.

“We have been big fans of the worlds Bungie has created, and are drawn to Bungie’s passion and creativity in online games development,” said NetEase CEO and Director, William Ding. “Bungie and NetEase share the same vision and ambition to deliver incredible experiences to millions of players all around the globe. We are excited to partner with Bungie as they transform from a single franchise development team into a global, multi-franchise entertainment studio.”

“This new partnership will enable us to accelerate our global vision, while building new teams dedicated to delivering brand-new experiences,” said Bungie CEO, Pete Parsons. “NetEase creates and operates some of the most popular games on the planet. We’re excited for them to bring their experience as we enter this new chapter in Bungie’s history. With NetEase’s industry expertise and international reach, our partnership will help us realize our shared goal of reaching players around the globe.”

This news comes shortly after Bungie announced that they will be showing Destiny 2’s Fall on June 5 through their official Twitch channel, just prior E3 2018, which is set to begin later this June in Los Angeles.
