Call of Duty Movie Announced — Paramount Bringing Activision’s FPS To The Big Screen

It’s official, Call of Duty is headed to another platform outside of video games. A new partnership between Paramount and Activision will not be bringing CoD to the big screen.

Paramount and Activision have dropped a bombshell with a new Call of Duty announcement today. Instead of another Black Ops title, it appears the FPS juggernaut is headed to a fresh frontier: movies. This collaborative effort aims to bring the CoD universe to life on the big screen, delivering a cinematic event for fans of the franchise worldwide.

Call of Duty is one of the most successful video game franchises ever made. Activision boasts “Call of Duty has been the #1 best-selling video game series in the U.S. for 16 consecutive years with over 500 million copies sold globally,” and its influence has reached hundreds of millions of players worldwide. Recently, this has even extended to pop culture, with Black Ops 6 deploying a more ‘Fortnite approach’ to characters in-game, with even Mike Judge’s Beavis & Butthead taking up arms to engage in warfare. Now, the larger-than-life FPS will be coming to TV.

Call Of Duty Is Coming To The Big Screen From A Paramount And Activision Team Up

Under the new partnership, Paramount will develop, produce, and distribute a live-action feature film based on Call of Duty, extending CoD‘s reach beyond video games into theatres. Both Paramount and Activision are committed to honouring the brand’s rich narrative and distinctive style, and the team-up promises an authentic experience built for longtime fans and newcomers alike.

Chairman and CEO of Paramount, David Ellison, said, “As a lifelong fan of Call of Duty this is truly a dream come true. From the first Allied campaigns in the original Call of Duty, through Modern Warfare and Black Ops, I’ve spent countless hours playing this franchise that I absolutely love. Being entrusted by Activision and players worldwide to bring this extraordinary storytelling universe to the big screen is both an honor and a responsibility that we don’t take lightly,” adding, “I can promise that we are resolute in our mission to deliver a cinematic experience that honors the legacy of this one-in-a-million brand – thrilling longtime fans of Call of Duty while captivating a whole new generation.”

Echoing Paramount’s sentiment, the President of Activision, Rob Kostich, said, “With Paramount, we have found a fantastic partner who we will work with to take that visceral, breathtaking action to the big screen in a defining cinematic moment. The film will honor and expand upon what has made this franchise great in the first place, and we cannot wait to get started. Our shared goal is quite simple — to create an unforgettable blockbuster movie experience that our community loves, and one that also excites and inspires new fans of the franchise,” regarding the upcoming film adaptation.

Although the CoD feature film is not even in production yet, fans can begin to get excited that their favourite CoD heroes, like John “Soap” McTavish, may land on the big screen soon.
