Gunnar has announced a new gaming glasses collection set to launch in 2025, aimed at enhancing the digital screen experience and protecting eyesight.
With pioneering technologies designed to improve the digital screen experience and safeguard vision, Gunnar has revealed that the gaming glasses will debut in 2025. The company has partnered with Activision, Blizzard, and Amazon to create uniquely designed glasses based on popular intellectual properties, including Overwatch, Diablo IV, tokidoki, Call of Duty, and more.

Gunnar tailored the glasses after following The Vision Council study. According to research, what were found are:
- 288 million users use digital devices for two or more hours a day
- 224 million users experience eye strain from computers
- 155 million users play video games regularly
- 138 million users regularly read on digital devices
- Computer eye strain is the number one office-related health complaint
Alongside the study from The Vision Council, over half of the respondents said they spend on average six or more hours a day on devices, 1 in 4 saying they spent an average of nine hours looking at a screen, and smartphones being the biggest draw as 79% of the respondent spent an average of three to five hours looking at their device screen. But after the pandemic, screen usage has increased across all platforms, as the study has found that:
- 62% of users reported escalated screen time on Smartphones
- 41% reporting escalated screen time using the TV
- 39% of users reported escalated screen time while on the Laptop
- 29% of users reported escalated screen time playing video games
- 28% reported escalated screen time while using a desktop PC
- 27% reported escalated screen time using tablets
- 21% reported escalated screen time using the smartwatches
- 12% reported escalated screen time using e-readers
Digital screens can leave users with dry eyes, muscular eye strain, and exposure to high-energy blue light, as well as glare and visual noise. Gunnar has patented a lens technology that utilizes tints to block blue light rays, focusing power to alleviate eye strain, and a curve to reduce dry eyes.
As part of its collections, Gunnar glasses will feature a Clear Pro lens tint designed for photo editing, video editing, and graphic design. The glasses also use mineral glass, commonly found in camera lenses and telescopes, for its scratch-resistant properties. Additionally, non-prescription models include a Sun-Shift transition, which shifts from amber to sun tint in 15 seconds and reverts to amber in 15 minutes. The glasses will also feature advanced geometry and a single toric lens, similar to those found in high-coverage, single-lens sports frames. The Venture model includes electrochromic lens technology, offering a seamless and dynamic solution for digital eye strain.
Over the years, Gunnar plans to release glasses as part of original collections or collaborations with gaming companies. To see which glasses were showcased at CES, check out the list below.
